Sunnysoul Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Could someone be kind enough to post a scan of this record, both sides please. Many thanks.
Steve G Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Don't have time to scan it but what do you need to know about it?
Sunnysoul Posted May 5, 2015 Author Posted May 5, 2015 Don't have time to scan it but what do you need to know about it? Would just like to see it Steve because there appear to be no photos whatsoever of the record on the net and none listed on popsike or collectors frenzy, discogs and the other usual media places. Literally nothing (that I can see or find).
ockers Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Got reviewed with scans voices from the shadows mag the modern soul issue no 11 i think it was by Rod in 1989 Played it to death on the tape rod sent me back then!!!!
Steve G Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 (edited) Very rare and it should be added to the longest running rarities thread since Richard spun it at Wigan. I did actually play it at the soul bowl room at prestatyn. Edited May 5, 2015 by Steve G 1
Dave Pinch Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 John manship did auction a copy some years ago... went for 6 or 700 quid... white demo only I think 1
Sjclement Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Would that be the same label as Crystal Motion, Ebb Tide and Vivilore Jordan? and perhaps Rosey Jones? is Frank Fivoranti involved? why so rare? 1
Sunnysoul Posted May 19, 2015 Author Posted May 19, 2015 (edited) Would still love to see a scan of the record, anyone ? Edited May 19, 2015 by sunnysoul
Sean Hampsey Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Didn't a copy go missing in the post, between Richard and Sam... Or someone or other, many moons ago? Can't remember the detail. Big Thorne record at the time. Pretty awful record in comparison to most big tunes of the time (Corey Blake, Bobby Reed, Tony Lampkin etc.) Sean 2
Arthur Fenn Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 It went missing way before Thorne Sean . Sam had borrowed it off Richard circa 1980 he posted it back but it never arrived so Sam gave Richard Mind & Matter to make up for it , oh dear! 2
Sean Hampsey Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 Ah! That's what happened. Clouded memory! Thanks Arthur. ? Sean
Glynthornhill Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 Scan of requested 45 from an article courtesy Of Rod Dearlove' s recommended Voices fanzine. Long forgotten and missed ..... This was in the modern soul special issue 13.. 1
John Reed Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 (edited) Never seen the appeal of this record, other than its rarity. Nice start, but when the vocals kick in it sounds like Black Lace singing disco at a karaoke Edited May 20, 2015 by John Reed 2
Garethx Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 Frank Fioravanti has actually posted a comment on the youtube clip for this. He did a few records on Bill Harner, at least one of which went on to get national release. I agree with the comments regarding the record's quality. Maybe a standard-bearer in the rarity-over-quality debate, although it is genuinely scarce. 1

Guest Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 Never seen the appeal of this record, other than its rarity. Nice start, but when the vocals kick in it sounds like Black Lace singing disco at a karaoke To me it sounds better loud in a venue, than at home!

This was in the modern soul special issue 13.. Tyrone St German sandwiched between Joseph Webster and Billy Harner - guess which one I have got ? 3
Dave Pinch Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 (edited) It does grow on you after a few plays…. I f##king love it... always have... always wanted it.. ever since having it on a searling tape from the 80s... when john auctioned it I was tempted to bid but thought it would sell for more than it did... was a long time ago when johns auctions were still on paper I think Edited May 21, 2015 by dave pinch 2
Steve G Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 My copy came from Soul Bowl in the early 90s….I am going to give it a mini run. those that don't like it can fook off to the bar or something…. 3
