Mind you the man Woodard's is pretty mind blowing in its own right, but JJ's was, I think, the first record to ever make me spontaneously burst into tears, such is the power of the emotion in its simple, upfront delivery. I still think it's the very essence of what soul and country songwriting is about - honest and direct in a way that todays equivalent could never be...
