Nickinstoke Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Does anyone know what Willie Tee sings towards the end of Teasing You? One of my listeners (6 Towns Radio, I'm on air now) thinks he says something about the Isle of Man - I have my doubts to say the least, but I don't have any better ideas.
Guest Ivor Jones Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Unless he was from the Isle of Man of course

Popular Post Steve G Posted April 25, 2015 Popular Post Posted April 25, 2015 I've always much preferred the remake to be honest, which for my money is one of the best ten New Orleans records ever made... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQ5nbjUQSNc Remember the song is all about a put down to another man….differences between the orig and the remake in brackets: You're nothing but a popcorn. (something that puffs up larger than it really is) (Sucker John) Stone suckin' John (stone sucking is something dumb people are supposed to do) (They call you the) Alley man (means sleazy) (Cos) You think you're raisin sand (raising sand is a southern expression for causing trouble)…. Enjoy. 6

I'm writing to answer your question about the lyrics in Willie Tee's "Teasin You". He says, "They call you the OLLIE man." There was a term back in the day called "Free Ollie" which meant that everything was FREE. In the song, he's saying they call you "The Ollie Man" meaning that the lady is just USING the guy to buy her drinks. Her drinks are FREE because the "OLLIE MAN" is paying for them. By the way, I'm a reliable source because I'm Willie Tee's daughter! : ) -racqsolid 7
Nickinstoke Posted April 27, 2015 Author Posted April 27, 2015 That's what I call a definitive answer! Many thanks, I know my listener will be delighted to know this too. Nick
