Guest Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 Funny old world innit...I never understood how this was, by any stretch of the imagination, Northern.
Sean Hampsey Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 I'd have said, coincidentally poignant... on the Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina... being a New Orleans classic! Fantastic Tune! Sean Hampsey
Guest Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 Funny old world innit...I never understood how this was, by any stretch of the imagination, Northern. It was very popular down the Wheel in the mid-sixties and upwards, probably one of those nighter sounds that because of its association with all-nighters carried on through to Wigan.

Sean Hampsey Agree with you 100% you old divil - a fantastic tune ! Spun this EXCELLENT side at the July bash at the CORNER POCKET , Mexborough , South Yorkshire ( every third Saturday of the month ) , as one of the closing records at the end of the night to A PACKED & APPRECIATIVE FLOOR . The record will always remind me - and the countless others who knew him well , of our dear departed friend BUB . I always liked it, but when Dave Evison(I think) played it at the Casino in about 74/75, it cleared the floor. A couple of years later it was massive? Paul

Soul Shrews Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 KILLJOY PACO..YOU LIKED IT ONCE Nah, not really Chris, seem to remember Kieth Minshull playing it every week at Wigan '79/'80 ish didn't get it then, still don't. Seem to remember him playing the Tams "Hey Girl....." 'bout the same time and not getting that one either. Before anyone starts I'm sure they're great records just don't float my boat thats all Cheers Paco

Very sad news indeed . Mr Buttle was a top man . He and Mrs B were a great couple and always made me - like the many others who used to regularly visit their home at Warner Avenue - very welcome . As for It Keeps Raining...do me a favour, it's horrible and I can't see any reason why it would have or should be played either.
Gene-r Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 (edited) There's a better side by him, "Sick and Tired" which is sadly ignored. OK, it was a UK Top 20 hit in 1958, but an excellent Soul/RNB dancer all the same. Edited August 31, 2006 by Gene-R

Also there's that one on UK HMV that was big for about a week in the 90's (was it Do You Know What Love Is or sommat like that) and I had one on a green label (Broadway? Broadmoor?), can't remember the title
