Ljblanken Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 I have a white label copy that i acquired pretty cheaply. does anyone know if this was booted, and (if so) how one would tell?
The Yank Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 As far as I know... this was never booted. There was a "re-issue" on After Dark with the Seven Souls (?) on the flip side. What label do you have it on- Atco or Vent ?
Ljblanken Posted April 14, 2015 Author Posted April 14, 2015 mine is on ATCO. i can post a pic when i get home (stuck in LAX airport)
dean jj Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 is it a mono/stereo demo 'cuss the issue has the sublime 'let me prove that i love you' on the flip?
Guest sharmo 1 Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Yes and no , The Dynells " Let me prove that I love you " on a white Atco plug side type demo was done back to back with Vivian Reed's " Save your love for me " in an ATCO record sleeve. the vinyl is vinyl and not styrene and the label is slightly smaller than the label plinth . " Call on me " was not done. regards , Simon.
Ljblanken Posted April 14, 2015 Author Posted April 14, 2015 here it is. got it for $40. has "let me prove that i love you" on flip 1
purist Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 looks alright to me ( why would atco demo's be on styrene? surely they're all vinyl???)
Guest sharmo 1 Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 looks alright to me ( why would atco demo's be on styrene? surely they're all vinyl???) Have to concur with Mr.Pugh on that , how are you John ?
Dave Pinch Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Real .. and the rarest format on atco.... the issue on that design is real tough... tougher than vent actually.. it's 1968 so no mono stereo promo all variations on atco have both sides on
Dave Pinch Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 It has a proper stamp on it from memory.. but I haven't got my copy to hand
Guest Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 here it is. got it for $40. has "let me prove that i love you" on flip I agree with the consensus, the record in the picture is a 100% original Atco. Atco/Atlantic used about 4 different pressing plants so there can be variations between originals.
purist Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 The wdj copy Ive had for many years seems identical top this one. It looks like two double decker buses decided to use it for an ice skating rink, yet it sounds great in a club, it's in my collections "top 3 worst looking records that play great" Have to concur with Mr.Pugh on that , how are you John ? I'm better now the sun is shining Simon, hoped to see you at rugby, next time mate?
