Guest GeoffB Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Looks like they forgot to renew the domain name.
Robbk Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Too bad. It was a great site. I, myself. uploaded hundreds of different company record sleeves to a thread on a now-extinct Soul music forum. Too bad. I am too old and too busy now to upload them again. Some of you may have frequented that forum, as well as this one. It also was a Northern Soul forum, which had mainly British members. We were referred to THIS forum when they stopped operations (in 2007, I believe). And that is when I started posting here again. 1
Mal C Posted April 12, 2015 Author Posted April 12, 2015 The great thing about that site was the sleeves from various European countries, and for me Austrslia, you can't get that info anywhere else on the net... Really hope it comes back online....
Guest brivinyl Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 The owner of the site Erling Mehl died earlier this year.
Mal C Posted April 12, 2015 Author Posted April 12, 2015 right so that explains things... I wonder if were able to contact the family perhaps, ask if they would get it back on-line... just a thought.. as it would really be a shame to lose it.. m 1
Mike Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 just got malware warnings of the url posted in the first post so have edited post and its title best avoid going there
Mal C Posted April 12, 2015 Author Posted April 12, 2015 thanks Mike, if anybody does have a contact with the family, I'd happily host it for free... Mal:_)
Mike Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 and of course there's a long running established gallery on here already if anyone ever needs a place https://www.soul-source.co.uk/gallery/
Sebastian Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 The entire webpage is still viewable using the "Wayback Machine" Internet Archive. Don't know for how long it will be there, but if anyone wants to do a "site dump" or save any scans, here it is: https://web.archive.org/web/20150319174946/https://45-sleeves.com/ 1
The Yank Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 I just went on the web site a few minutes ago and the site is up and running again !!!!

Is it now established that the site - for the time being anyway - is no longer "active", so to speak? I've just been on the site and the label information and scans appear to be no longer accessible on there. https://web.archive.org/web/20150312014008/https://www.45-sleeves.com/index.html

Sunnysoul Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Thanks but that was already common knowledge. Was just wondering if someone had taken it over and reactivated it.

I think the whole site is still there on the "Wayback Machine" - just needs a different link. Try this Click here The links to the record labels are down the left hand side but you may have to scroll down and across in that window. Can somebody confirm that that does or doesn't work please.

Perfect thanks , that's exactly what I was after , seems to work OK and , yes, you have to scroll across the left hand column to choose the label.
Dave N Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Hi Yes this works and is the site I was looking for last month when I started a post on here. Many thanks daven
Derek Pearson Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Visited the Wayback Machine site a few hours ago and couldn't access the 45 Sleeves catalogue at all apart from the opening page which sadly states: "For your information. I am currently prevented from updating and maintaining the web site. I am sorry for the inconvenience". All that hard earned information and scans built up over many years by an unknown number of contributors........ It just reminds me that sites on the internet aren't as permanent as I always once thought they were. In todays fast moving world it looks like the good old fashioned printed word (books, magazines etc etc) still have a vital role to play in preserving history. Lets hope the 45 Sleeves catalogue reappears sometime in the future. Derek

Derek You're right there Derek. I used to post a lot of stuff on Dave Flynn's 'Soul Talk' site. Did my research on numerous subjects & posted the stuff up on his goodly site. Course, I didn't make copies of much of the info I posted there, just gathered the info on scraps of paper, collated it & posted it up. Lost loads of useful info when the site was discontinued (lots of scans out of old publications like Billboard, US mags & newspapers + other sources).
