Pete S Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 THE EMBRACERS - STOP AND LET YOURSELF GO - LUCKY LABEL INC 1000 anyone know anything about this record at all - it's on JM's site at £350. It's very doo-wop influenced, just wondered if it was known or played and what I should ask for it.
Robbk Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 (edited) Wow! Doc Oliver's Chicago early '60s label. That's the one on which Otis Leavill had his first release in 1961. I'd LOVE to hear the 2 sides of this Embracers. I never saw it, but do remember the group from back in '61-3. I bet it's right up my alley. Can anyone upload files of the sides? KevH Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Hi Robb. The Stop side is on John Manships site as Pete mentioned. No idea about the flip.
Robbk Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Thanks. "Stop" is a very good mid-tempo, reminiscent of The "St. Louis Sound" of the early '60s. The ballad side, "Mr. Sunrise" was quite disappointing. I wonder what else was on Doc Oliver's "Lucky" and "Mr. Lucky" Records, other than The Embracers and Otis Leavill, (and, I also remember a bluesy record by a male Bluesy R&B artist)?
Tony Smith Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 The only other release I've seen is Doc Oliver & Surgeons "Tighten Up Your Game".

Singin' Sam also came out on Dee Dee with a different flip.
