sir cumference
Thought that there were a few about, myself.I mean not a lot! At least one on Manship(while ago). Plus, the usual suspects playing out-what would they play them on if not Soultown-a carver? I thought that Soultown was the original? Link to comment Social source share
Chalky
Quite a few about. Think Kitch said he's had 5 copies. 1 Link to comment Social source share

Prophonics 2029
I thought it was an early date like 1965. Link to comment Social source share
Gene-r
I thought it was an early date like 1965. The number, S-104, seems to date its release at October 1967. Quite possibly an earlier recording? Edited April 2, 2015 by Gene-R Link to comment Social source share

I'm actually quite surprised this record didn't turn up on Bradford Market back in the day. Quite a few Soultown stuff McKinley Travis (2 titles) , Little Helen (2 maybe 3 titles) and yes even The Sweets were on there, I don't remember anybody ever getting a Ray Agee, am I wrong though ?. Just seems strange, if most of the label's output was on there but not that one. Edited April 2, 2015 by Kegsy Link to comment Social source share
Bazza
Well ,I think there is some doubt as to whether Soultown was the first release of this,I can't back that up tho ? Bazza Link to comment Social source share

Pete S
Because Ray Agee said he had no memory of recording it, some people said it was actually a tailor made, can you believe that? I sold a cracked one for £1500 in 2002. Link to comment Social source share
Popular Post Md Records
I've posted this before, but in respect of Ray Agee, he signed up for Sherman and Ann Coleman's Soultown/Celeste/Coleman set up around 1964, leaving about 1966 to go to Brandin records, so the disc COULD have come out after then, WITHOUT his knowledge OR permission, and could have been a disc scheduled for the celeste label. As far as Ray Agee having no knowledge of the disc, I think with an output of material that started in 1952 for Modern records, and recording for at least 20 labels his memory of specific tracks could be excused, especially if he didn't know they had been released and the fog of time compounded by him not leading an "austere" lifestyle,. All speculation of course, but certainly more plausible than it being a reissue for the Northern scene. I remember Bobby Fulton playing me two "unreleased" tracks by "Little Dooley" that he had cut called "Memories" and "It's Got To Be Now Or Never" and having to break the news to him that they had been issued TWICE on "Red Ruby" and "North Bay" Des 7 Link to comment Social source share

Frankie Crocker
Am after a minter but awaiting retirement pension pot. Butch has a copy. Tony Smith #1 has one also as he confirmed earlier - Kenny Burrell tried to buy it but Tony knows his records... John Manship has sold two copies in the last 15 years or so. Nancy from Long Beach sold hers shortly after the recent Manship sale. The few copies that exist play OK apart from the chipped one so there is no quality-control issue with this release. As mentioned on a similar thread in the last couple of years, the record sounds a bit like Ray's 'Hard Workin' Man' on Jewel but is infinitely better than this RnB number. Quinvy
I think the OP needs to give up the drugs. Plenty of copies about. And quite a few minty ones. There's very few truly rare records. The Internet has made that very obvious. 3 Link to comment Social source share

Chalky
I thought Bobby Sanders was involved or owned Soultown? Barrie Waddington met Ray's manager Jerry White and he was adamant that Ray Agee never recorded for Soultown when Barrie show him the 45. Barrie also said he got to visit one of the Soultown offices, closed down and left in a hurry. Ray Agee said pretty much the same to someone who met him as well.
