Guest Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Hi there can anybody please tell me if jackie day before its too late has been booted on modern ? cheers
Liamgp Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 There were the turquoise label versions in the 70s, which I think were legally made by Modern. 1
Sjclement Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Desirable for having the instrumental on the b side credited to the Arthur Wright Orchestra come to think about it this was the way I heard it 1
Mick Sway Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Here's one of the boots/re-issues with the instrumental on the flip. If anyone else has any info on the provenance of these it would be interesting to know. https://www.popsike.com/JACKIE-DAYARTHUR-WRIGHTbefore-its-too-lateinstroNORTHERN-MODmirwoodLISTEN/230865453946.html

Wiggyflat Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 I have a Jamaica issue of this.Was this a boot?
Ik001 Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 According to Mr Manship this is a legit copy. Whether Mr Soussan had anything to do with it I'm not sure but do know it was played out about 72/73 at The Highland Room so whether he was cutting his dodgy stuff at this time again I'm non the wiser. I presume this is the only way to obtain the instrumental??
Paul R Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 I thought it was more 74. Three came out in total: Before it's Too Late, Mary Love, Lay this Burden Down, and Vernon Garrett, If I could Turn Back The Hands Of Time. All on Blue(Turquoise?) Modern, with the Arthur Wright Orchestra instrumental flip. Paul 2

Gene-r Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 I have a Jamaica issue of this. Was this a boot? If it's the red label Modern, then I'd say it was original.
Labeat Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 I used to go the Highland Room in 72/73 never heard it. John M would have been about ten at the time I guess. Ten Chris? That makes John 50/51 today?? and the rest ha!
Chris L Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 I checked with Ian L, says never played at Highland room and is a Simon S boot.
Ik001 Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 I used to go the Highland Room in 72/73 never heard it. John M would have been about ten at the time I guess. It definitely was played there. I attended from 70 till 73 and although I can't remember what I had for tea last night it was played.
Chris L Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 It definitely was played there. I attended from 70 till 73 and although I can't remember what I had for tea last night it was played. Well, I spoke to the head DJ at the Highland room he says not.
Ik001 Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Well, I spoke to the head DJ at the Highland room he says not. Maybe not at the decks every minute, could have been played by Tony Jebb or Les Cockel? Anyway I never went to any other events and I'm not dreaming but it's a minor point me thinks??
Mick Sway Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 These are Simon Soussan boots he "conned" Arthur Wright to letting him have some stuff an instrumental of "Hurt on the other side" came out at about the same time. I would tend to agree. Thank you.
Stateside Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Nothing stamped in the run out, just scratched MM 1028-1. I seem to remember it being played at Wigan, possibly even where I bought it from. Kev

Kev Kev. Exactly the same colour turquoise as the Mary Love. Lay this burden down. Which I was told was a legit issue. So I'm assuming the same goes for the Jackie Day. Steve
Davetay Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Well, I spoke to the head DJ at the Highland room he says not. Don't for get around this time, Ian was DJing at Hanley with Tony. Colin and Keith were DJing at Bl;ackpool.
Chris L Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Don't for get around this time, Ian was DJing at Hanley with Tony. Colin and Keith were DJing at Bl;ackpool. What's that got to do with anything ?
Davetay Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 What's that got to do with anything ? It means Ian wasn't there!
Winsford Soul Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 (edited) What's that got to do with anything ? I'm assuming that it could have been played at the Mecca by Colin or Keith without Ian Levine knowing. Steve Edited March 24, 2015 by Winsford Soul 1
Davetay Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 I used to go the Highland Room in 72/73 never heard it. John M would have been about ten at the time I guess. Since John left school in 69, he would have be 18/19 at the time.
Chris L Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 I'm assuming that it could have been played at the Mecca by Colin or Keith without Ian Levine knowing. Steve Then you don't know Ian, forget it if he says wasn't played and is a boot then it is.
Winsford Soul Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 Then you don't know Ian, forget it if he says wasn't played and is a boot then it is. Why would I know Ian. I don't know everybody. Steve
