Wiggyflat Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 I am guessing this is British. Can't find anything on it but then I'm no Tamla expert.Anyone know anything about it?
Robbk Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Why would a "Tamla expert" be of any use? From listening, we can certainly tell that isn't a Motown recording.
John Benson Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 I guess it's the same acetate that RNS had up for sale recently, described as '2 Previously Unknown & Undiscovered Motown Recordings - Original 60s Metal Acetate Both Tracks Stunning Tempatations/Jimmy Ruffin Sounds' 'Very Very Funny / How Deep Does Your Love Go' The second song does have a sound of Jimmy Ruffin's voice, but I wouldn't say it's him...
Wiggyflat Posted March 22, 2015 Author Posted March 22, 2015 It has the same label as my other Shapiro and Bernstein acetate which is Ben E Kings I Can't Break The News which is Ben E King...I found this in the UK and I'm sure it was used to try and get UK artists to cover the song. The Dakotas covered I Can't Break The News. The writing on the front is in the same style as the Ben E King acetate but larger.
TheBigO Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 The Ben E King CBTN track was done very well by the Leg End that is Tom Jones off the Lp, which I spin on rare occasions when i am behind the decks out. TOON 1
Sean Hampsey Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Neither the Temptations or Jimmy Ruffin to these ears. Suspect someone may have added the blue pen copy later to an uncredited demo. Sean
