For CD collectors , there have been some marvellous collections down the years.

Depending on your mood, do you have 'favourites'..?

Perhaps it's just the choice of tracks or the mood you are in?

60s/ 70s

Modern

mixture etc

I gave this one hundreds of plays back in the day. I think if you really like 75% of a comp. (like enough to get the vinyl) you are doing well. I can't  think of any compilation where every single track does it for me.

The Dave Godin Deep Soul Treasures sets are very fine.

 

Kents Where Country meets Soul series is top notch.

 

The History of Soul series is well worth searching out.

 

And I've enjoyed the recent CD's from Kent featuring the songs of Phillip Mitchell and Sam Dees too.

 

But there has been a lot of very good compilations.

Not big or clever but I thought the Pied Piper compilation was one of the best I've ever heard - I think there was only one track I didn't like!
