Sebastian Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 (edited) Sorting out some stuff to put up on eBay and was left scratching my head whether the Four Tops version of Kim Weston's "Helpless" was released on a 45 anywhere in the world except on the rare picture sleeved french "Standning In The Shadows Of Love" 7" EP? Can't find any mention of a US or UK release. Edited August 23, 2006 by Sebastian

An EP indeed, but seems to be the only 7" release of "Helpless".

Guest TONY ROUNCE Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 (edited) Yes, it was issued on a 45, on Indian Tamla Motown. It must be stupidly rare - the only copy that I've ever seen was owned by a Mr. I. Levine of Blackpool, and that was back in 1969. Back then Ian had what seemed like an unbelievable collection of non US or UK Motown pressings, from places like Nigeria, the Congo and, of course, India. Can't remember what was on the other side, think it might have been one of their big hits, but we are talking 37 years ago now... TONE ...Actually now I come to think about it, it may have been a South African TM, but the fact remains that, yes, it WAS issued on a 45 somewhere in the world! Edited August 24, 2006 by TONY ROUNCE
Mark W Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 That's what I thought as well, but check out what I found in my record collection just a couple of hours ago: TOO many records!!! I bought one of these from Mick Smith at a record fair mid 80's, remember him claiming this was the only 7" release of Helpless.
Sebastian Posted September 1, 2006 Author Posted September 1, 2006 As i mentioned earlier, I was going to put my copy of the EP containing the Four Tops version of "Helpless" on eBay. It's up there now, check it out if you feel like it: https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=230024273071
