Popular Post Goldsoul Posted February 17, 2015 Popular Post Posted February 17, 2015 (edited) Just noticed she passed away in the last few hours. A tad of throwaway trivia......She had an early Wigan spin with her version of the Apollas 'Just Can't Get Enough of You and later My Town My Guy and Me. Barbara Jean English who I produced in the 80's did the original Demo of It's My Party in 1963. She had a connection with many a youth club back in the day with Maybe I Know too! Full details of her career history are pretty much everywhere on Google. RIP Miss Lesley Gore Edited February 17, 2015 by The Golden 101 7
Garethx Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Sad news. "Look The Other Way" on Mercury is tremendous blue-eyed soul. Credits on that include Mikki Farrow, Thom Bell and Gamble & Huff. 1
Geoff Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 I've just read online that Lesley Gore has died. Probably best known for her debut hit, It's My Party, she went on to have several US hits and two chart hits in the UK (It's My Party and Maybe I Know). I believe one of her records was played on the Northern Soul scene, I Won't Love You Anymore (Sorry) although I've never heard it played out myself. She also recorded a good version of the beat ballad What Am I Gonna Do With You, originally by the Chiffons. Quite a lot more to her life including writing songs for the film Fame. She was one of the pop singers I liked back in the 60s. RIP Lesley.

She made some great girly pop records, I've got two of them on my jukebox, Wonder Boy and Look Of Love, also her We Know We're In Love was played in 1977...rip 1

Absolutely brilliant pop record. Guess we've all been in that situation sometime in our life.
Chris L Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Sang some great songs in her time, another one gone
Orotava Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 I can still remember buying "We Know We`re In Love" on Mercury. Sad news... 1
Driveller Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Original video to the fabulous "Wonder Boy": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edUZnrMlThA An all-time fave pop piece for me. Enjoy, Nick 1

Hadn't heard that one before Gareth, fabulous. One for the female beat ballad thread I think. On this side of the Atlantic I think she was rather underrated.

Is her version of Just Can't Get Enough Of You an album only track, got an emidisc boot from very early 70s of that, it was an oldie when I wasn't! 2
Spacehopper Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 played 'no matter' out a few times too... great track, RIP Lesley gore dean 1
