Popular Post Illusive Posted February 16, 2015 Popular Post Posted February 16, 2015 (edited) I'm becoming increasingly annoyed (polite version) about some individuals behaviour on SS, seizing the opportunity to profit from other members and guests potential naivety, selling new or recently released 45's at grossly inflated prices when those 45's are still for sale on other sites / sellers pages at retail prices. I'm sure some will disagree in this consumer led 'feck it if they don't know any better society' but it saddens me, as the soul community to me has always been about sharing the love of the music and providing ready access to the media, be it on vinyl or cd whilst making a bob or two, but nothing which leaves buyers feeling ripped off. I don't think I'm alone in this view and am glad to say lots of the community can still hold their heads up as they show integrity and respect for other members in their sales posts by not doubling prices and chancing their arm. So what are Soul Source's members views ? Lets 'av it. Gav Edited February 17, 2015 by illusive 14
stewmac Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 one of the culprits locks his thread in sales section when he sell for 3-5 times what you can still get them for so no-one can challenge said person ! 3

Same bloody records over and over again also. Shoud pay a fee to sell if you DO NOT contribute to forum in any other way. 4
Guest Polyvelts Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 So often see the individual numero 45 x box set 45s being offered at £50 a pop, the box set is $250 , that's just over 5 bucks a 45. You can get them here - fill ya boots ! https://www.numerogroup.com/products/eccentric-soul-omnibus
Chalky Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Greedy b*stards some of them. some not happy with doubling their money or a bit more, some want five times the price one record was still available for on the labels site. Buyer often at fault but it is simply exploitation in some cases. 1
Steve L Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 I agree completely Gav, no rules being broken but its just plain greed in my eyes 1
Popular Post Davenpete Posted February 17, 2015 Popular Post Posted February 17, 2015 What about the rules of honesty and honour - it's these sort of blood sucking scumbag tossers who poison the scene as a whole - whatever happened to welcoming and supporting newbies to Northern? Dx 4
Geoff Whitfield Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 I don't mind him putting his over priced records on, because I listen to them and then buy from somewhere else a lot cheaper so he provides me with a good source of records I have missed/don't know about, but agree he is a rip off merchant there's another on here who always has sound clips and is always way over priced ,then he puts them on again saying reduced, but if you check back they are the same price, I have only ever seen any of them sell the odd thing 2
Guest Carl Dixon Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 I was advised last year that an original Bandtraxs release of -'Tell me'/Spyder Turner- was seen at an event for more than £120, when it is still available from the likes of FunkyFeet records for a tenner. I would be happy to break even with my expenses cutting those tunes and am not so worried about profit on that session. What I found strange too is I mistakenly gave some copies away including test pressings hoping that would stimulate a little play here and there, to find out that some were actually sold. I have paid Spyder 100% royalties as if all the 45's were sold. But I guess that's how this all works.... Now, the original test pressings for 'Tell me' - the first batch were a cock up. The 'B' side was double speed! If anybody wants to buy a copy - £10,000 each!

Guest Carl Dixon Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Was that 'used' Pete - had it been played?
Pete S Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Was that 'used' Pete - had it been played? No it was brand new mate, I had that and another one, a girl singer I think, I honestly didn't remember having them as I'd put them with "modern" soul 45's which I look through once every decade
Modernsoulsucks Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 If members are concerned by prices quoted in ads there is nothing to stop anyone either reporting it to the site or opening a topic in this section as Gav has done.As comments above it is up to the seller as to what price he asks but there is no compulsion on buyers to agree or purchase. That is the case for any 45 on here.I'm sure the seller in question will view this topic and hopefully take note.ROD [Forum Moderator] 1

Modernsoulsucks Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 I have drawn his attention to it by PM. The site does take account of members' complaints. ROD
Jnixon Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 (edited) if its a re issue where there is a demand or someone has under paid for a record, regardless of where it came from and a what price, its fair game for them to sell in on for a going rate. its a bit low rent trying to make 5 quid on recent issues that are available all over the internet. ends up with copy cat sellers which is boring. one of these low rent sellers was caught out selling me a re issue as an original recently. whilst the tune was in the post i asked where he got it from and he turned shirty. record turned up with a juno.co.uk price sticker on it. got my money back after a month. scummy business really. best avoided these sellers. you can spot the lists a mile off usually by the BS in the header line.
