Marshman Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 (edited) Seeing a White Demo copy of this up for sale today got me wondering if anyone could tell me which is the rarer format - is it the issue or the demo and is there any difference in the value? Many thanks in advance, Darren Edited February 16, 2015 by marshman

Many thanks in advance, Darren Issue is rarer, £ 150 'ish for a demo, £ 200/£ 250 for an issue. Incidentally dont know of any issues of SAM WILLIAMS ? 1
Robbk Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 I don't know what mix of them made their way to The UK from the ;70s till now. But, when the record was out, I saw many, many more white DJ issues than orange store stockers. The latter was always very rare. 1

Many thanks in advance, Darren The issue is the rarer of the two records. Demos go for anywhere between £100 - 120 and issues £150 - 200.00. A record well worth having. 1
Chris L Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 This was the very first record I heard when I knew it was a Northern Soul one, the Catacombs, March 1972 1
Marshman Posted February 16, 2015 Author Posted February 16, 2015 What a great introduction. No wonder you got hooked I first heard it mid-80s and loved it ever since... I always assumed the issue was the rarer as more WDs seem to be offered for sale but looking back on popsike it was roughly 50/50. I have the issue myself and would never part with it.
Chris L Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 I wrote an article about the group in Kev Roberts Togetherness magazine, I'll try and find it. 3
45cellar Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Only had the one chance of the Stock Copy and bought it. Bought the DEMO around the same time (Early 70s), have seen other DEMOs since. 2
Carlf Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 The issue is also on vinyl as opposed to styrene for the demo. 1
Chris L Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 The issue is also on vinyl as opposed to styrene for the demo. My demo on vinyl.
Kegsy Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 My demo on vinyl. Really ?, I've had a few demos (still have one) all were styrene.
Chris L Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Really ?, I've had a few demos (still have one) all were styrene. I have all three of their singles on Tower, all are vinyl, demos & issues.
John Benson Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 I was given an issue copy back in the early 80's - it's cracked right through to the middle, but still plays fine. I could have sworn it was styrene though? I'll have to go and find it out to be certain...

Hammie Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 The scans above from 45cellar definately shows that the issue came out ALSO on Styrene, you can see that the labels are of the stick on type not moulded on

Mick Holdsworth Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 I also have a styrene issue. Seems ther must be copies of both formats on both vynyl and styrene.
