Rick Cooper Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Arlene Bailey- Conversation in the Street. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6_TFKCxsFQ Takes a few plays to appreciate but worth the effort. Arranged by Horace Ott so got to be good. Ruby and the Romantics already had 2 great tracks mentioned so here's a third Only Heaven Knows on ABC They also did a version of Hurting Each Other on A&M but not as good as the Ruth Lewis on RCA already posted. Sjclement Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 I love Tambi Garrett, but Lulu's version takes some beating Likewise Dusty's version of the following holds the ace for me. 2

Ljblanken Posted February 17, 2015 Author Posted February 17, 2015 this is a bit quicker tempo, but has the full-bore, heavy duty female vocal performance i associate with this genre. 2
Liamgp Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Couple more favourites... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5IaJZ5v724Q https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GcE1J4kOO1s Nice one John, screwing up the intro. That's Fontella Bass and Tina Turner on vocals with Ike Turner on guitar BTW.

Pete S Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Yes,you can end the thread now Jim. I had one of these for sale yesterday and nobody bought it. Unbelievable. I've never heard such a heartbreaking performance such as Big Maybelle's on Oh Lord etc, especially right near the end where it has a chord change and she almost cries asshe sings. An amazing record. 2
