Chris L Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 (edited) I've not owned one of these but I think it's time I did. There seems to be a bewildering array of labels. Can anyone put them in some sort of order of rarityness ? Edited February 6, 2015 by Chris L 2
Chris L Posted February 6, 2015 Author Posted February 6, 2015 They are different mixes too mate! I was afraid of that, any advice welcome.
Tony Smith Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 I've got the top 3, Best mix for me is the Mary Jane, but the version of Call Me on the flip is better on the Carrie one 1
Ian Dewhirst Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 (edited) They are different mixes too mate! Inconsiderate b*stards making us buy all 5 pressings! Ian D Edited February 7, 2015 by pikeys dog swearing - work filters 2
Dunmiedin Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Any DJ who talks over the drum intro to this should have his mike stuck where the sun don't shine ! 1

Dennisoul Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 (edited) Rarest is Orange Carrie which is the original first release.....Mary Jane release has more horns and " ooos" from the backing singers....Green Carrie is 70s legit reissue...Jameco is a legit release also. They're all brilliant....but my fav is the original orange Carrie release...bit more sparse and raw..you also get the brilliant "call me" on the Carrie release as Tony said. Dennisoul Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Rarity - Orange Carrie - Mary Jane - Jameco - Green Carrie 1
Rob Moss Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 There is a United Sound acetate with the same sides type written on label.
Guest Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 I like the look of that Orange one I do. At first glance I thought the writing looks black, but it is dark blue!
Weingarden Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Is "Call Me" different on the Carrie and Jameco releases? How so? (It didn't come out on Mary Jane, as far as I can tell.)
The Yank Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 "Call Me" should be the same version on Carrie and Jameco- when the record became popular in New York, the record was leased to Jameco. 1
Rudzy Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 I do. At first glance I thought the writing looks black, but it is dark blue! I thought it might be a boot at first, but on closer inspection it's that lovely blue print and RCA vinyl pressing. weird but wonderful 1

Tony Smith Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Was this RCA Pressing? The orange one yes, consecutive number to Ed Hamilton, label owner re-pressed both on the green label years later.

Premium Stuff Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Don't suppose anyone has a clip of ALL sides just to compare - Richard - Premium Stuff? I have the orange Carrie, Mary Jane and Jameco - never bothered with the green Carrie. Haven't done soundclips for them all though Jim. Cheers Richard
Jim Ohara Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Thanks Richards - your standards are slipping - lol!!!

Chris L Posted February 9, 2015 Author Posted February 9, 2015 (edited) None of those are an orange Carrie? You replied to Tony's quote about the orange one? Right got it. Don't really mind what colour label is as long as it's an original. I did see an orange one for £125.00, albeit sold some years ago, nearly treble in price in 4.5 years ?
