Keep your eyes on the three Tams behind lead singer Ray Whitley. The middle Tam is having a hard time following the others and is looking a little unwell. After about a minute, the camera pans back to them and there are now only two Tams on backing vocals, the middle guy has disappeared completely!

Always thought Joe Pope sang lead in the Tams and that Ray Whitely was a writer.

I always thought Ray was of a lighter shade too! Didn't he have a Northern tune with 'I've Been Hurt'?

Whatever. It's still funny.

I think the costumes made him feel nauseated, did me

I wonder if John Pope, the lead singer is still in the nick. He got life for killing (strangling i think) his wife.....

Still, Its something we have all being guilty of thinking about!

Perhaps he went up to the crowd & shook Peter Kay's hand ? :D

Going on a tangent slightly, has anyone seen the "Football Wars" video on Google Video ?

Bizarre but funny & well worth a look :D Go's on for about 8 mins though.

Thing about the Tams is that even in their hey day in the 60's they all looked liked they were aged well into their 40's !!!! Great group though !!!

He must have been appearing as one of The Drifters on the same night, so nipped off to catch the second part of there show. If someone had a video of them on the same night I bet he appears there half way through.

Another great clip.

Great track this and way ahead of its time. Unique lead voice.

Is there advd out of all this stuff yet?

Its much better to see the footage from the time of making than the 'made for northern soul story type' although if it never got filmed theres not much choice.

these guys may have looked well worn, even in their 60t,s heyday but joe pope was only 63 when he died in 1996, thus only making him only 21 when he sang those legendary words....... hey girl don,t bother me...........................

best, bri.

maybe he dashed off for a pee

Thanks for that Pete. Another soul classic tainted forever! :shades:
