It was a monster record at the time and it used to pack the  dance floor it was that popular. Happy times, no worries apart from how to get too the next nighter

Yeah I know Steve, Massive at one time, but shunned now as much as, if not more than the Snake which was one of the biggest back in the day. Times change eh?

Anybody know it's history Northern Soul wise ? A Wigan "pop" choon ?

I`m happy to say NO!

It is indeed a horrid lump of dog droppings but I would give the dubious honour of worst record ever played as that other ludicrous steamer. Tim Tam & the Turd Offs!

I DJ`d at a local soul night on Saturday and, not mentioning any names but someone actually played this. I find......banging your head on the table to the beat of this abortion is much easier on the ears!

Hey these things happen. Think of the very early days of the Mecca, PJ Proby Niki Hoekey, can't think of a duffer at The Torch but I'm sure there was one :D

Remember going to an all dayer at the Top Rank in Sheffield in 1978,the light's came on and the DJ announced that the record he was about to play had just cost him £50,you could hear the intake of breath in the room.Sure enough it was Muriel Day.

I would like to er..... "thank you" for brining this to my attention.... I've never heard it before... It sounds like Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons after a very drunken night out, with Keith Moon on drums!!!!!!!

Honest question Pete, don`t these have solid centres, like other british stuff?? don`t shoot me I know nothing about british stuff but would like to know.

It didnt get me on the dance floor, but about a dozen folk were giving it there all and enjoying it. Tim Tam and the Turn ons sounds like R&R to my ears but then again Little Richard get down periodically gets a spin so I guess the boundaries get a bit blurred.

Its not my type of tune but I was knocked back on my request - Mel Wynn  = stop sign; a lot of great records spun by the guest DJ's but to forget to put Mel Wynn in the box is almost unforgivable. :dash2:

I had a pressing of Tim Tam and it was in the discogs pile about to be listed.I thought this will never sell in this day and age.Sure enough 2 days later...In the post.I am really worried for the buyers sanity that in 2014 he bought a pressing of Tim Tam for 13 pounds.

I've never seen one of these with a solid centre Harry, or a push out centre, not saying there aren't any but most of the labels pressed by the Mercury/Philips/Polydor group which this was a part of started using jukebox centres for everything around that time

Never had one of those.

This was a 4 week wonder really, was there every time it was played, it was played twice on the first night, second time it packed the floor, then Keith Minshull played it the next few weeks but stopped not long after.  From what I remember, Keith was the only dj to play it.

Hi Steve

Think it was Sissie Houston - Bring him back? A forgotten class tune.

I really enjoyed the set you played including several big tunes and underplayed numbers like Sam Ward and Major Harris.

Me having whinged about the A-side, I reckon it's worth 13 quid for 'Opelia' the B-side however - a great surf instrumental! (If you like that kind of thing)...and I do. It sounds like it could have come off the last Allah-Lahs album.
