Mtay9778 Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 There have been a few threads very similar to this if you do a bit of digging on here you'll find em. Some top quality records that are underplayed can be found for less than £30.

Great bit of advice, I've bought a bit off Des recently, cheap but decent records all with sound clips! Soul Source is a great place to buy vinyl. I used to get a bit off eBay but now realise why most folk refer to it as evil bay. If it's original and mint the chances are it's more like a VG, and you will have to trawl through hundreds of boots before you find an original.

UK ebay is full of shite and well known northern does tend to hold a good price there, some US sellers still dont use the ebay template with customs etc and will do post for under £10. Easiest way to get more tunes is find tunes cheap and move them on. Definitely part of the fun for me anyway, the buying / selling thing. If you do a bit each week over a long period of time you will get some good scores. it is still possible to buy £40 / 60 soul tunes for a few dollars from ebay. Ive found people on here (both buyers and sellers) are generally very decent and to be fair ive not had too many issues with ebay over the years either and still buy things from there daily. You always have paypal protection so no need to worry. People on here slag ebay off. I dont get that. A beer and my desk beats rat piss stained boxes in dank out buildings hands down. 1

Mal C Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 The DELLS - Make Sure , all time classic for around a tenner You must buy this, strong stuff.... Saw somebody mentioned Precisions - If this is Love (I'd Rather Be Lonely) - £10ish, Id have said that, maybe £15 for a nice minter, thing is there are not many minters out there, but lots of crap copies, and I see the price of this track rising, saw somebody list it at £40 sterling the other day.. nearly fainted at that... 1

I've seen them go for more than £40. I don't think you see many at £15 unless people are selling them on here at that price, but like I say, haven't seen any.

Only thing is with US eBay is postage can be pretty expensive and can take a few weeks, and on a few occasions I've had to pay an import tax at the post office. I think people slag it off because there are so many people passing boots off as originals and like I said about the condition, I've had a few that are a VG yet they've said it was mint and you've then got to try and find another copy. Ive then had to sell on the VG copy but honesty so I'm at a loss then!

Even if you do need to go £40 (which I'd be surprised at) it's a 100% must have tune by pretty much everyone's estimation. Dx

The more you buy the more chance you have of getting problems however one or too greedy idiots wont stop me from buying from ebay. Its far too easy and fruitful.

Neiljon31 Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 I would say keep your eyes peeled for soul packs ; There are some listed on here now with contents named that you can check out via you tube etc. and they are hellish value. Anglo American do some too, 100 count can't remember price but worth a punt. Anything you think is crap put in your top cupboard and I promise over the following years you will find some gems when you return to them. Nothing like getting a box of records to sort through when you don't know it's contents. 2
Thecivilservice Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 My advice would be to go to some record fairs and just start buying cheap 45s you like the look of. Yes some will be crap but in the long run you'll have more fun, put put the time and effort in and you will certainly find a few rare records, and some that you love, but more importantly they will be your own discoveries 1

Mtay9778 Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Call the soul police I don't think it will be necessary on this occasion, I merely thought that £25 for the original was too good to be true and the chap did state he was looking for originals.
Chalky Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Just listen tonas much as you can. Many sites have clips with their sales, same for sales here and elsewhere. Youtube has a vast amount of listening. Best way to find what you like and learn. 1

Guest Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 A good label to look out for is Onederful. It has some quality records that go for reasonable prices. Here are some I would recommend from the label: Admirations "Wait Til I Get To Know You" Admirations "Don't Leave Me" Otis Clay "A Lasting Love" Otis Clay "That's How It Is" Du-ettes "Please Forgive Me" Sharpees "I've Got a Secret" Sharpess "Tired of Being Lonely"
