MrsWoodsrules Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 (edited) Fair price to pay for an VG+ Frankie Beverley, If That's What You Wanted on Gamble, plays excellent? Also which came first Gamble or Sassy? Also is there a Gamble boot knocking around? Cheers Aid. Edited January 19, 2015 by MrsWoodsrules
Mellorful Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Dont know the price but issue periods stated on discogs https://www.discogs.com/Frankie-Beverly-And-The-Butlers-If-Thats-What-You-Wanted-Love-Your-Pain-Goes-Deep/master/333668 atb stu 1
Crazylegs Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 (edited) Gamble came first, then 2 issues on sassy 1st one had "love your pain grows deep" as a B side and the 2nd had "this is just a b side" on the B side. Dunno about price sorry. Edited January 19, 2015 by crazylegs 1
MrsWoodsrules Posted January 19, 2015 Author Posted January 19, 2015 (edited) Okay, looks to me on discogs like the Sassy came first 67, Gamble 68, that's established so it's not the first. Doesn't look likes there's a black Gamble boot around that could be buying by mistake? So just need a Gamble value now...anyone? Edited January 19, 2015 by MrsWoodsrules
Supercorsa Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 I'm no expert, but I'm sure Sassy was first, before Gamble. 2
MrsWoodsrules Posted January 19, 2015 Author Posted January 19, 2015 (edited) Thanks guys, it's all helpful, no worries, it's not a competition. Very grateful here. Just need a fair value to pay now? Anyone? Edited January 19, 2015 by MrsWoodsrules

Dave Pinch Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Came out on Italian gamble too with pic sleeve.. not booted on gamble I don't think

Bo Diddley Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Great, cheers Dave, answered all. And just to be sure, there are no black Gamble boots around? Not unless someone has put a scan/copy label on a Bootleg/reissue/carver. This could be sold by the person doing the copying or someone who has previously got hold of a copy. I'm sure you've seen the other thread on this subject. Cheers. 1
MrsWoodsrules Posted January 20, 2015 Author Posted January 20, 2015 Turns out it's cracked! Would have been nice if he'd told us from the start & not waste everyone's time. Ah well, live & learn, at least I learned something bout the record. Thanks guys.
Andrea Ko Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 I've always known that the gamble issue is more expensive than the sassy (the one i own). At least that's what it' on JM's guide
Guest Dave Turner Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 A great classic I know but always surprised at what the Sassy go for as Neil Rushden turned up 800+ of 'em Post 69
Steve Foran Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Does it not have a Frankford / Wayne stamp on both Sassy and Gamble?
Mrtag Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Does it not have a Frankford / Wayne stamp on both Sassy and Gamble? Only stamped on Sassy! If my memory serves me well, had both US issue And Italian Picture sleeve on Gamble but don't recall seeing stamps Defo on both Sassy Issues and Demo's! 1

Mrtag Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 what about one on sassy with the pain is going deeper? A mint Issue sold recently for (I think) $450 The Demo I would guess these days About £450 to £550! 1
Ben Owen Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 (edited) On Gamble you are looking at £500-600 priced on SC Website, there is also one on Ebay at the moment! I myself have the White sassy demo. More rare on the Gamble so i am told. Good luck! Edited January 20, 2015 by NorthernSoulBen
macca Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 I remember those Sassy copies becoming available around 1978 'cos I had one. They were cheap (like the Herbert Hunters). If they were turned up by the hundreds by Mr. Rushton, why are they commanding such a high price today? Daft question I suppose... :-)

The label doesn't look to good on that one but hey! It's demand at the time I guess.

And the flip is just titled "Love" Dee Dee Sharp`s What Kind of Lady is another on the label, same again quite a rare one although seen more of those.
