We've had high winds here in Notts but have been spared the torrential rain. It's also very mild - 13 degrees today, and the wind is dropping. Peter 1

Popular Post Amsterdam Russ Posted December 10, 2015 Author Popular Post Posted December 10, 2015 Must admit to having a soft spot for setting up and taking Christmassy shots like this one of a snowman in his snow globe (although to me it kind of looks like a snowman stepping through some sort of space/time portal!). The green effect in the background comes from a small light-up tree decoration, which I placed behind and I used a small torch to provide some side light and to create some shadow at the same time. Camera on a tripod… room lights off… click, click, click… and away you go! 9

Steve Steve, nothing you can do about them hiding in trees, especially Owls, they would be buggers to play hide and seek with. That is a rare bird to see, so any photo of it is a bonus 3

Only recently for the first time, They seem to be very common in the Northwest this year. They must have had a very successful breeding season last year. They have such a distinctive round face when flying. Not had any opportunities to photograph them though, but here's hoping its soon. Bet they're common in the fens with that habitat. steve 2
