Loren Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Hi you all i would like to have some informations about this track : Free soul by the Soul Vendors i know that it can be found on the blue cat LP but has it been issued on 45 ? Blue cat , coxsonne,...? thanks for your help if anybody has a copy... all the best Loren
Pete S Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 I think it's only on a Jamaican 7", credited to Jackie Mittoo & the Soul Brothers - poor quality recording - there is a vocal by Bitty McLean using that same backing track which is nice
Pete S Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Thanks Pete I have to correct that statement above, it is on the Bitty McLean cd for some reason, but it's the straight instrumental version (also in poor quality!)
Loren Posted January 6, 2015 Author Posted January 6, 2015 In fact Soul bros and not Soul vendors found it on UP TOWN (JA)
nij flood Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Orig issued on Uptown label as B side to Look Who is Back Again by Slim (Smith) & Delroy(Wilson). Sadly a very lo-fi recording unlike the A-side but a truly soulful ska tune. Mine is in reasonable nick but still sounds poor. Also reissued by Coxsone in 70s. Apparently inspired Lily Allens "Smile" which boosts her cred with me immensely if it's true!
