Quinvy Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Was told by a mate that he once found a record by The Fantastic Johnny C entitled The Whip on Phil-la of soul. Now then I have searched high and low on t'internet, found the label listing on Soulful Kinda Music etc. etc. But nothing. There is a 45 called The Whip by Pal and the Prophets on the label, but it's not the same tune. So, is it a Jackanory job or does anyone know if it actually exists?
Labeat Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 (edited) You have me thinking there Phil, is there summat on Dore' entitled that? Ignore that, it's the Dip. But there is one called The Whip Edited January 2, 2015 by Labeat

Popular Post Chalky Posted January 2, 2015 Popular Post Posted January 2, 2015 (edited) I think the question was does The Whip on Phil La Soul by Fantastic Johnny C exist or not, not name every record that sounds like it Edited January 2, 2015 by chalky 5
Labeat Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 I think the question was does The Whip on Phil La Soul by Fantastic Johnny C exist or not, not name every record that sounds like it I think cos Phil mentioned Pal & Prophets is when other tunes are suggested
Chalky Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 I think cos Phil mentioned Pal & Prophets is when other tunes are suggested But he explained why he mentioned Pal & Prophets, it is on the label with that title and not the one he is looking for, or did I read it wrong 2
Mace Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Phil, you say the Pal & Prophets is not same tune. Does that mean you have heard the one you are searching for to compare, or that your mate tells you its different.? I once made up a record to test a smart arse who always 'knew' every oddball R&B tune going....think I called it Big Betty & The G-Spots 'I only weep when I come' Yup, he knew it, and had actually sold a copy a few years previous. Some smartarse will probably throw a scan up now to make me look a twat! 2

I have played the Pal and the Prophets, and it ain't nothing like that record. 1
