Popular Post Pete S Posted December 19, 2014 Popular Post Posted December 19, 2014 (edited) 1973 — 1975 Part 3 Well after last weekend’s mega-session, it turned out that all though my 10 hours worth of podcasts were pretty representative of “The Wigan Years”, because my criteria was to play them off vinyl, this means loads of great records had to be missed out. So to put that right, there are now going to be four or five supplementary podcasts containing the best (and worst) of the missing 45’s. Just to remind: the rules where that the track had to be known BY ME from Wigan; whether it was first discovered at The Cats, The Torch, The Mecca, Va Va’s, Cleethorpes — irrelevant — they either had to be on my Wigan live tapes or I had to have heard them played there. They were also in a pretty strict chronological order too, but this latest batch aren’t — they just cover two years but aren’t what was played month by month. EDE ROBIN — THERE MUST BE A LOVE SOMEWHERE JESSICA JAMES & THE OUTLAWS — WE’LL BE MAKING OUT BOBBY PARIS — NIGHT OWL LENIS GUESS — JUST ASK ME PATTI AUSTIN — TAKE AWAY THE PAIN STAIN THE MYLESTONES — THE JOKER MELBA MOORE — DON’T CRY SING ALONG WITH THE MUSIC BOBBY ANGELLE — TOO MUCH FOR YOU RPM GENERATION — RONA’S THEME TAMIKO JONES — I’M SPELLBOUND DANA VALERY — YOU DON’T KNOW WHERE YOUR INTEREST LIES BILL BRANDON & LORRAINE JOHNSON — LET ME BE YOUR FULL TIME GROOVER SOUL PATROL — SAVE YOUR LOVE BOOTS RANDOLPH — TAKE A LETTER MARIA THE SHARONETTES — GOING TO A GO GO YOUNGBLOOD SMITH — YOU CAN SPLIT MICTHELL BRAITHWAITE — YOU’VE BEEN A LONG TIME COMING LIBERTY — GIRL YOU BETTER WAKE UP JIMMY MACK — MY WORLD IS ON FIRE JODI MATHIS — DON’T YOU CARE ANYMORE SKULL SNAPS — MY HANG UP IS YOU THE SEQUINS — A CASE OF LOVE H.B. BARNUM — HEARTBREAKER BUSTER & EDDIE — CAN’T BE STILL THE JEWELS — WE GOT TOGETHERNESS EARL GRANT — HIDE NOR HAIR HEILA ANTHONY — LIVIN’ IN LOVE THE JAVELLS — GOODBYE NOTHING TO SAY ALPACA PHASE III — I LIKE TO PARTY FREDDIE CHAVEZ — THEY’LL NEVER KNOW WHY EDDIE FOSTER — I NEVER KNEW WILLIE WILLIAMS — HAVE YOU EVER BEEN PLAYED FOR A FOOL THE MIRWOOD STRINGS — DON’T PRETEND KEANYA COLLINS — BARNABUS COLLINS LOVE BANDIT JASON KNIGHT — OUR LOVE IS GETTING STRONGER DAVID & THE GIANTS — TEN MILES HIGH THE HIGH KEYS — LIVING A LIE JANIE GRANT — MY HEART, YOUR HEART CARMEL STRINGS — I HEAR A SYMPHONY THE DAISIES — COLD WAVE JEANETTE WILLIAMS — ALL OF A SUDDEN THE FABULOUS JADES — COME ON AND LIVE KEN WILLIAMS — COME BACK BRENDA LEE JONES — YOU’RE THE LOVE OF MY LIFE THE CASANOVA TWO — WE GOT TO KEEP ON BOBBY TREETOP — WAIT TIL I GET TO KNOW YOU MORRIS CHESTNUT — TOO DARN SOULFUL EULA COOPER — LET OUR LOVE GROW HIGHER DEAN PARRISH — I’M ON MY WAY https://www.mixcloud.com/mayfairmenthol/northern-soul-the-casino-years-1973-to-1975-part-three/ Edited December 19, 2014 by Pete S 5

Lucky One Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 As ever some quality tracks on this list, this is the period when I was becoming very aware of northern soul though older lad`s at school and on my estate who were going to Wigan. The start of a very long journey which has lasted for me at least 40 years. the same could be said for a lot of us on soul source long may this continue.
