Nancy Wilcox there's only three known copies but the Paramount 4 should be played as an anniversary 45 or as the Kent re-release; that is if the DJ digs the music rather than the rarety. Thanks

Come on Ady, no bugger else has them only you. And as you know only too well, once you release them, no bugger will play them.

I used to play them when I was Dj'ing because they are quality, but I got them cut off the Cd's before they were released on vinyl. Played quite a few of the Anniversary singles though, and we all hammered "good news in the morning" and that must have sold a few copies.

It's a funny old game though mate.

Well that's encouraging at least and I know a lot of people have had acetates done of Etta James and rightly so.

Towanda Barnes - You Don't Mean It has been getting big plays in the North this year.

Sag War Fare - Must say I prefer the flip!

Too right! Looking forward very much to the release of Etta James.

It's been around for ages but often overlooked

Any chance of Loretta Williams - 'Baby Cakes' making an impact nationwide, its recently started to get a few plays at several NW venues and it gets the dancers on the floor?

I always thought it was a bit of a jerky rhythm when it was last big around 1970; great record though. I'd be happy if it spread. Maxine Brown did a good version produced by Otis Redding

Some popular tunes in Dublin this year:

Sacred Four - Somebody Watching you

King Earnest - The Soul Stroke

Dyna Might - Soul Has No Color

Little Richard - Get Down With It

I think Otis produced the Loretta Williams version. It was played at the Scene back in 1965. Our missing friend Rbman used to love it when he heard it out. Got a good flipside too.

You're half-sharp Neil! Funny to see an Etta James download advertised on this page; I doubt it'll be on it

I will be investing in said CD Ady sharpish. Have been annoying her indoors by spinning around the room to it already

Fantastic, well done Ady.

A great track, I remember playing this on my Radio show as a tribute to Otis Reading as it was him that wrote it, co owned the label Jotis and the backing band are (or were) the Bar kays who some members along with Otis Reading died in the plane crash. This is often overlooked

I also think I played this at the 100Club a couple of years ago as well, a great track

Several venues played it in the NW, I have heard it spun at Monaco soul club, Northern line, Soul at the Services and Ramsbttom Civic in the last 3 months. Definitely not a tune for handbaggers....

If it doesn't make the 2014 list, it should make the 2015 list. Fingers crossed.

Awesome legacy from Otis, mind blowing to think what he could have produced had he still been with us today. :D

Baby Cakes also done by Maxine Brown. Sort of more polished version, quite nice. But not as frantic as Loretta.
