sister dawn Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 Just played Nicole Willis, gonna be worth a listen this one
Pete S Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 I wish Lamar would shut it and leave it to Dale...
Guest Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 Am I the only one who finds it less than exciting that two Radio 2 personalities are playing what is now very mainstream commercial 'Northern Soul' on the BBC when there are great internet radio shows in danger of closing because of lack of support?
sister dawn Posted August 12, 2006 Author Posted August 12, 2006 I wish Lamar would shut it and leave it to Dale... Me too

I don't find them exciting in the least, but I get fed up of listening to 5 Live and Talk Sport all week so this is the only bit of music radio I listen to. But I know what you mean.

I would've thought that exposure of soul music to a large audience is preferable to none at all? Derek
Guest Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 And there you have it..the only bit of music radio you listen to is mainstream Radio 2 with a bit of Northern in it. Its like all the excitement when Kentucky Fried Chicken took the radical step of using Northern tracks in the commercials or when Persil created a 'Northern' track for the TV commercials when Grapevine were releasing on 45 great unissued Eddie Holman stuff from the vaults and hardly a word was said. That Nicole Willis 45 was perceived to be 'rare' so it got a lot of attention (I like it by the way and bought it at the time ) but because the Grapevine 45's were easily obtainable (but pressed in exactly the same amounts I suspect) there aws no where near as much fuss. and now Dale and Mark are playing it on the radio.Whoopy do. Hopefully someones mum will like it then.

On the subject of advertisements see the pringles ad has an "Old Soul" sound as its backing track now too I thought cos' Dale was involved in the programme, as an "Old Wigan boy" there might have been more sounds on it that what there currently is. Maybe you ought to go back to bed and try later respect Dawn
