Great shame. Only knew Tony from local Northants/Beds scenes but he was definitely a 'face'. Had that lovely 'hang dog' aloof expression but was the nicest guy you could chat to. Sincere condolences to family and all connected. RIP.

Absolutely shocked by this news, Tony was an absolute gem, some terrible one-liners and great fun to be with over many years, was only chatting to him the other week, a real sad loss.

R.I.P. Tony

P.S. Always loved Tony's story about entering Wigan with a sales box, and the bouncer collaring him, "Oi you, whats that under your arm?" and Tony coming back with "hair"!!!

Got a mesage earlier today with the sad news and I am shocked.  Like most knew Tony well, funny as f*** with his witty one liners.  You never knew when he was being serious.  Top top bloke, a character and will be greatly missed.

R.I.P. Tony.

Tony knew me from 40 years back, only recently started attending do's again, unfortunately he's gone before I had the chance to meet him again.

A very well respected face from all the comments and gone way too soon.

RIP old friend.

Never knew him but wish I did.

A sad loss to the scene obviously. Sincere condolences to family and friends.

Such terribly sad news,I have known Tony for 35 years and will miss him so much.he was a true gent and real soulie. he was a true bedford legend on the soul scene and whatever alnighter you may have attended with him everyone seemed to know Tony. We were lucky enough to attend his birthday celebration in cambridge a couple of weeks ago and he was on fine form. The bedford soul scene will never be the same again.

RIP

My day just got a lot darker yesterday -  one of the best guys on the soul scene has died. RIP Tony Warot, thanks for the laughs, the tunes and the very dry humour! I was hoping to catch up with you out and about instead of messages, but I'll never forget your friendship over the decades.

A gent in the finest manner, a comic that made you laugh over the stupidest things, a cracking dj and collector and mixing capability genius i.e. Frank & Chris and Jackie & Erma mixes that fooled a lot of people as well as myself until he told me about them. R.I.P. Tony gone but not forgotten.

Just saw this before logging off........X An 'original'....and always looked forward to his ferreting....and support...X Sad news indeed and I share the feelings of all those who had the pleasure of his 'wit'....and plain stare!x He did always mix in serous comment in his 1 liners to me too....which I always heard and respected. An asset to the East Anglian Soul Community for many years before I became active and was pleased to have alongside us all when we went on the march in the 90's......genuinely shocked at the news....RIP??....naaa.....go stalk em Tony..................X

RIP Tony, as said many times above and on FB a true gent, soulie and all round top man. Had many laughs with him over the years and only just spoke with him the other week via FB as he'd worked out he could send voice messages through Messenger. We pissed ourselves laughing because he sounded like Stephen Hawkins! Sincere sympathies to his family and his Bedford Soul family, gutted

A sad loss & my condolenses to his family & close friends.

Did not know him that well & first met him when i shared a caravan with him & others at Fleetwood i think it was (when Frank Wilson was on i believe)

Instantly recognisable, only ever saw him 2/3 times after that (including a charity shop in Huntingdon that he happened to be working in!!!)

Sent him a birthday greeting on Facebook last week for some reason (don't usually bother even with people i know well so that's kind of spooky)

Rest in peace old bean

Hold on, hold on, hold on. This is Tony Warot we are talking about here, a 100% pure northern soul  lad. The bloke with the sense of timing and bizarre humour that Tommy Cooper probably copied. He can't be dead. Nope sorry, Tony is sat on some desert island paradise(or even the Falklands!) enjoying reading all these very kind and true plaudits and wishing he could attend his own funeral. I would like to say what a belting bloke he was, and always fantastic company be it in the record bar at Wigan, Yate or wherever but I know he'll only take the piss the next time I see him.

Like many I've known Tony for what seems like forever ... and over those years he never changed .. a true gent with a warm heart, a big smile and a twinkle in his eye

R.I.P. Tony

RIP Tone - have many fond memories of the early days at the Casino when you travelled up with the Bedford lot, with many an hour spent discussing vinyl, me about British and you trying to convince me about those dodgy American things with no centres!!

Also had many a discussion in the early hours putting the world to rights, you will be missed by many.

Thanks for the memories.
