John-o Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 The Gladiators. That Miami Sound. Still got an Emidisc with Johnny Bragg on the other side. Of course it,s a mash up of the Centuries , Jack 23 surf instrumental but huge for a month.
Steve L Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 hmm..all about timing..was played quite a bit later on..75 ish... maybe not big but certainly popular..it appears on quite a few of my live tapes from that dateline... Still got my "looky - likey - Rika" so some poor bootlegger must've got their fingers burned. Also big enough to get a pressing on Soul galore? I certainly remember it from my formative years although can't be precise about where/when 2
Pete S Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Not my sort of record but Ral Donner "Don't let it slip away". Marva Jones "I got your number" played by Pep as I remember. I finally got my 4th Anniversary tape back this week and it features Alan Rhodes spot followed by Pep's, both of them play Marva Jones but it rarely got played after that really...thought it would go huge.
Jona Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 talking of instrumentals, wasn't the producers Lady, Lady, Lady, (inst to what kind of lady) a wigan only sound? can't recall it being put on at Blackpool? But may be wrong, only went there a half a dozen times

MrsWoodsrules Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Precisions, Such Misery. While this is what I'd call a real oldie (so I don't know if it was first spun @ Wigan), a real clapper & got some hammer from loads of different DJs @ Wigan all the time I was going, really associate this.
