On the Sunday morning there's a guided tour of Station Road, with a visit to the blue plaque.  Well known ex-Casino DJ will be available for photographs.  Book early and receive a free limited edition Wigan Casino tea towel.

I wonder if there will be a compare with a mic at the front of the coach?..... " And on your left we have the bingo hall steps where Duffy used to sit every week before going into the Casino".

Rumour has it that the Hotel is the Brittania at Standish on the outskirts of Wigan

It was Cassinellis back in the day and was a popular Jazz Funk Venue

Fun times at cassinellis, remember it well

Bit harsh on the slap heads, and just don't see the exits being played...

Probably not but YOU GOT TO HAVE MONEY to pay the promoters

Posted (edited)

youve got to laugh otherwise you'd go insane.

 kind regards Mick L

Bit late for me on that score - I think it's ok to be insane and laugh though (It has a slightly disturbing edge to it)........

Good luck to em I say - I'm getting well into House at the moment anyway..........Yeh - my 'House'.......

Ok everyone. First been a member since July 2013 and been a working Dj for 45 years and still am. Northern Soul has always been my passion and still is hence the internet radio show which I am not paid for. Our trip is for people who love the music and that's all. It is a weekend away and will only involve the people on the trip. It is sad when so called lovers of the music turn on people they don't even know.

I hope this and the music picked by listeners proves we are not trying to upset people but promote the music.

Thanks for the opertunity to reply

I don't think people are dissing the promotion of the music, just the method and timing of the event.

Some may question how many "overnighters" have been promoted in the past, and why are we just hearing about them now with no advance of musical outputs or stylings. The advert also certainly looks questionable where dj's are concerned.

Sorry if this offends, it is only my opinion you understand.

I'd love to see the coach pulled up outside a remote chemist on the way . . . . . . pssst got any Anusol?

Perhaps more seriously many who go to soul nights these days look for local hotels to lay-over, have a few drinks and not bother with the journey home. If someone wants to try a package then, not for me - but neither is a lot of what's on offer out there at the moment, but let them try it. My guess is inevitably following media interest and film releases it could turn into a baggie bus with full circle skirts and the shallow approach that comes with that, in my opinion. But heh, it could be different, proof pudding and all that, and if it is that then it will suit those on the bus. Be interesting to see the guest DJs.

The lack of detail are what concerned folks I know

The name and location of the hotel, no named DJs to give an idea of music played etc has lead to some wondering if it will go ahead
