Guest Bogue Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Wonder if anyone could shed some light on a couple of Bobby Patterson records that i picked up recently ? The first one is "My Baby's Coming Back To Me", seen the normal & the yellow vinyl copies but never come across one like this (see scan) the vinyl seems to be a mix of the black & yellow giving a beautiful tortoise shell effect. Had to lighten the scan to show it & it dosen't really do it justice. It dosen't seem to be listed on J Manship's site , so i wondered if anyone knew how many were made e.t.c. The other is "Till You Give In" his old stomper tune, but it is on Abnak with a different b side. again wonder if anyone has information about it ? Thanks.
Larsc Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 The yellow/black mix is probably just polluted during production. Unless one of the workers were playing around again.
Dave Rimmer Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 As far as I'm aware, it's the same flip side as the other release (Just worded slightly differently), it's the 'Till You Give In' side that is different. Bobby Patterson (born 13-March-1944 in Dallas, Texas) Abnak 112 - You Just Got To Understand / Till You Give In - 1966 Abnak 117 - You've Just Got To Understand / ? - 1967
Chalky Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 (edited) Abnack Records were owned by John Abnor who recorded Patterson for the label and then later for the soul subsiduary Jetstar. Edited August 10, 2006 by chalky

Do they pre date the Jetstar releases then or was it just an alternative ?

Thanks again P.s. Do you think the vinyl colour was a mistake like lars says ? Almost certainly. They either hadn't cleaned the pressing machine, or had used the same storge bin for the 'raw' vinyl.
