Mellorful Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 My Mica copy has James Robins - I cant please you on one side and Roy Wright - Hook line and sinker on the other side. No indicator which is was intended as the A side or B side. I don't know if that helps.
Guest Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 There is a substantial and detailed thread about these 2 tracks on MICA somewhere from a couple of years ago. Not sure if it was I who started it, i`ll try to find
Guest Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Can`t find it....search function is next to useless!!
Markw Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Never heard of HL&S coming out on Vick, only Mica.
Guest uroffal Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Did it come out or just on Vick? Very rare on Vick - think this is the thread Steve is talking about above
Markw Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Blimey! So it did come out on Vick then. Not surprising I suppose. That must look tasty alongside YCMWLA. Still only Carl F with a copy? Or can anyone else on here boast one?
Alan T Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 There's a version of this by Arnold 'Sugar' Hill which also has "I Can't Please You" on the other side. It's on Hawk records and has Jerhart (BMI) on the label. 1
Guest Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Off on a tangent...speaking of tunes called, "Hook, Line and Sinker"...this one has escaped the masses thus far even though it's a well known artist/label: Art Neville on Instant records out of New Orleans...recommended Northern thumper: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sllkIWhxexc 1

Markw Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Yes - YCMWLA = You Changed My Whole Life Around. I have that. It's the HL&S on Vick that it seems only Carl F has.

Robbk Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 There's a version of this by Arnold 'Sugar' Hill which also has "I Can't Please You" on the other side. It's on Hawk records and has Jerhart (BMI) on the label. Hawk Records was also co-owned by Bob Lee. Jerhart Music was his personal music publisher (not shared with co-owners). So, when Bob Lee started doing A&R work for other label owners, such as Benson, he had their labels re-relelease his biggest hit-Jimmy Robins' "I Can't Please You", plus Roy Wright's "Hook line and Sinker", and a few others. Lee owned Vick, together with Ruth Moore, Jerhart, together with a money backer. Mica was owned by Al Benson, for whom Lee later worked (1966) -Thus the re-issues. 1
Guest Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 Thanx for the info Robb.....yet again!....this time its in notepad where it should`ve been the last time the subject cropped up
