There was a four track EP released last year with some indie bands doing northern covers.

It was called "More soul than Wigan Casino"! biggrin.gif

Kicker - Since you left

The Butterflies of love - Two lovers

Comet Gain - If you ever walk out of my life

Airport Girl - Lipstick traces (on a cigarette)

They are all quite horrible though I think Comet Gain's version has got a bit of charm.

Just going through a box of New Wave stuff to put on Ebay and I came across this, A cover version of Don Thomas-Come on train. Why, did they record it where did they hear it. The Group is called The In-Citers out of Santa Cruz, Cal,. On the record, under the title it gives the writer credits as 'Unknown'!!!!!!!

I know I am going to regret this but let's have some more examples of odd ball cover versions.

Hi there,

In fact, The Inciters is a very good northern revival group (does that genre exists? heheh). Some of their covers includes The Magic Touch, The End Of Our Love, Dynamite Exploded, The Hurt and many more..

Yes, I'm a big fan biggrin.gif

Cheers From Mexico

yes i forgot Kylie did Time Will Pass You By. I like Kylie but dad is more the biggest fan with all her singles, albums, DVD's, Video's, calanders, pictures from magazines and newspapers and even a doll lol.

The Jam did Move On Up. aswell as Darryl Hall's versions

Helen Shapiro coverd Shop Around.

Plus Will Young - I Get The Sweetest Feeling (would have to listen to judge how bad it seems)

J. C. Messina's 1975 cover of "Time Won't Let Me" by The Outsiders. Undoubtedly a rock/pop cover, but done with style!

Take it J C is the same man who sang with Kenny Loggins as Loggins and Messina, long before Kenny Loggins had that god-awful "Footloose" in the charts?

Yes ... J C M is the M in L & M

I heard a great version of "seven days too long" by Marmalade, them of "Obladi Oblada" (sorry about spelling) fame, a couple of years back.

Regards Alan

Marmalade were previously the Glasgow R&B Beat band Dean Ford and Gaylords and did 'Seven Days is Too Long' in their live set in the late '60s. Like Liverppol and LOndon there were hundreds of Glasgow bands doing R&B covers - major among them the Beatstalkers, Frankie Miller and the Bruins and Maggie Bell. On the same theme, Midge Ure was lead singer of another Glasgow R&B showband called Slick, they covered Archie Bell's 'Here I Go Again'. But corrupted the lyrics to 'Here I Go Again, Looking For My Hole Again' ... disgusting innuendo. I think he was last seen saving Africa from famine...
