Britmusicsoulfan Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 If the etching in the dead wax is L-51377 and the other side has L-51383 in the dead wax and the outer edge of the vinyl is rough, not smooth, this checks out as a legit copy, isn't it? Cheers.

Cheers. If it has a flat edge to the vinyl it's the bootleg - the edge on the original is sharp That's for a promo - the issues are original
Britmusicsoulfan Posted November 8, 2014 Author Posted November 8, 2014 The copy I have is a promo with the rough outer edge. Somebody bought it off of me and returned it saying it was a fake, which I knew it wasn't, but wanted to get further confirmation. My confirmation that he bought it to DJ with and return it is the likely scenario. Cheers.
Prophonics 2029 Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 (edited) I had one guy buy a record....... aDJ!!!! dirty word ..it didn't get the dance floor reaction that wad in his mind so he wanted his money back. Edited November 8, 2014 by Prophonics 2029 2

Cheers. Don't have the boot to compare matrix but they should be the same on both I believe and indeed if the edge of the vinyl is sharp and smooth, it's the real thing. If it's flat and rough, it's the boot !
Britmusicsoulfan Posted November 9, 2014 Author Posted November 9, 2014 Mine has the correct matrices on both sides.
Pete S Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 I sold the boot this week and the original is a thinner, more flexible press with tapered edge, as said above
Britmusicsoulfan Posted November 10, 2014 Author Posted November 10, 2014 Pete, my copy is flexible and is a bit thinner.
Pete S Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Pete, my copy is flexible and is a bit thinner. Sounds good then!
Prophonics 2029 Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Pete, my copy is flexible and is a bit thinner. You can get treatment for that....sprays and a cream...not that I would know of course.
Guest Susan Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Is it possible to get a picture of the real one and the fake?
Chris L Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 (edited) Is it possible to get a picture of the real one and the fake? Original Bootleg Original Edited March 31, 2015 by Chris L
Steve Foran Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Original Bootleg Original.jpg Boot.jpg Original Original1.jpeg Jesus they are almost the same.
Chris L Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Jesus they are almost the same. There were a whole bunch of look-a-likes done in the 70s only the vinyl gives you an indication of which one is the boot. 1
Steve Foran Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 There were a whole bunch of look-a-likes done in the 70s only the vinyl gives you an indication of which one is the boot. Yes I recall. Just never seen the two together like that. Clever buggers those bootleg chaps!
Guest Susan Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 thanks for the input I really didn´t know that they even made bootleg versions of promos back in the 70`s.
Chris L Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 thanks for the input I really didn´t know that they even made bootleg versions of promos back in the 70`s. Yes there were, just off the top of my head, James Bounty and Sam & Kitty.
Pete S Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Yes there were, just off the top of my head, James Bounty and Sam & Kitty. James Bounty only booted on issue :-) Adventurers on demo
Kjw Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Jesus they are almost the same. That's right - you need to be holding the record really to tell the difference Run your fingers around the edge and if the label ends up covered in blood it's an original

Chris L Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 so if the vinyl thin than it`s the original? Generally speaking yes, the run out helps too.
Chris L Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 I had one guy buy a record....... aDJ!!!! dirty word ..it didn't get the dance floor reaction that wad in his mind so he wanted his money back. Never had so many spurious buyers as the last 3 months, their inventiveness knows no bounds.
boff Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Always thought mine was a boot but turns out to be legit thanks guys for the info...
