If the etching in the dead wax is L-51377 and the other side has L-51383 in the dead wax and the outer edge of the vinyl is rough, not smooth, this checks out as a legit copy, isn't it?

Cheers.

If it has a flat edge to the vinyl it's the bootleg - the edge on the original is sharp

That's for a promo - the issues are original

The copy I have is a promo with the rough outer edge.

Somebody bought it off of me and returned it saying it was a fake, which I knew it wasn't, but wanted to get further confirmation.

My confirmation that he bought it to DJ with and return it is the likely scenario.

Cheers.

Don't have the boot to compare matrix but they should be the same on both I believe and indeed if the edge of the vinyl is sharp and smooth, it's the real thing. If it's flat and rough, it's the boot !

Is it possible to get a picture of the real one and the fake?

Jesus they are almost the same.

There were a whole bunch of look-a-likes done in the 70s only the vinyl gives you an indication of which one is the boot.

Yes I recall. Just never seen the two together like that. Clever buggers those bootleg chaps!

Yes there were, just off the top of my head, James Bounty and Sam & Kitty.

That's right - you need to be holding the record really to tell the difference

Run your fingers around the edge and if the label ends up covered in blood it's an original

I had one guy buy a record....... aDJ!!!! dirty word ..it didn't get the dance floor reaction that wad in his mind so he wanted his money back.

Never had so many spurious buyers as the last 3 months, their inventiveness knows no bounds.
