Jason S Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 (edited) Leftovers from list 18 - all have been reduced - have a butcher's. Pm or email soulstacks@gmail.com Holds for a few hours only - if you email or pm you'll hear pretty much straight back. Timothy McNealy - Funky Movement /While You Be There (Shawn) (EX+) £400 The original Funky Movement (before Funky Movement 2) this has always been dead rare on original. Nice copy — a fussy EX+ https://www.soulstacks.com/clips4/01-70201.mp3 Bobby Boyd Congress - Straight Ahead/In A Strange Strange Land (Okapi) (EX) £350 Two absolutely immense sides of funk — French only issue, if you don’t know this, listen to it. ‘Straight Ahead’ is, well, pretty much a straight ahead heavy funker while the flipside ‘In A Strange Strange Land’ is a bonkers mix styles, from the opening ‘workers chants’ intro into some tough jazzy funk with touches of R&B about it: so many bases covered. Culled from the super rare LP from ’71 only issued by our Gallic friends in a run of 300 copies you can’t imagine the 45 was pressed too heavily! Almost impossible to find in it’s place of origin, too. Comes with a pic sleeve (writing and wear on the sleeve but son, it’s all about the music on this bad boy!) https://www.soulstacks.com/clips4/01-70401.mp3 Bruno Speight and the Soulful Strutters - Funky Strut/Straight From The Heart (Jay Thompson and the Soulful Strutters) (Strut) (M-) £200 Tough record to find — good funk on the Funky Strut side presumably some time before Bruno got involved with the S.O.S Band stuff. The flip has the Soulful Strutters backing Jay Thompson on a ballady thing — Carolina release. https://www.soulstacks.com/clips4/01-68501.mp3 Mickey & Ernie - Baby I'm In Love/Soulin' (Til The Sun Rise) (Hot Line Music Journal) (EX-) £150 Good punchy northern and an archived spin for the legendary Swedish soul sister Helena Stromdahl. Not an easy one to find and probably underexposed but it’s a really good bit of funky end Northern. https://www.soulstacks.com/clips4/01-68901.mp3 Horizon - Give It Up/You Went Away (Shine) (EX) £100 Texan boogie funk gem backed with a decent slowie. Every time I stick the player thing on random and this comes on I’m like, ‘oh this is good…oh, it’s THIS!’. One of those. https://www.soulstacks.com/clips4/01-69501.mp3 Ella Washington - Bye Bye Baby/The Grass Always Seems Greener (Octavia) (VG) £30 TOUGH edged funky northern on the orginal Octavia lable before Atlantic. Strong VG - don't be put off...it plays amazingly loud. As they say 'good for DJing' https://www.soulstacks.com/clips4/01-70801.mp3 Swan Snake - Zona Rosa/Sneakin' (Stanza) (VG++) £15 Two intriguing instrumentals on a record I know nowt about. Decent break that may be 'usable'. Mooerer wants 60 of your dollars for this Cali oddity. https://www.soulstacks.com/clips4/01-70601.mp3 Liza-Mae - Juicy Mouth (mislabeled as The Watergate Jazz)/The Watergate Jazz (Concept) (M-) £20 As with many, this is a mislabeled copy — the ‘Juicy Mouth’ side is the one you want. Same backing track as Cody Michaels / Michael Christian / Jan Snow (got that off popsike!) Got an X an the label to let you know or you can draw your own guide. Former cover up in northern circles. https://www.soulstacks.com/clips4/01-71001.mp3 Edited November 6, 2014 by Jason S
