2) ACE SPECTRUM - "Don't Send Nobody Else"

3) GLEN MILLER - "Where Is The Love"

4) that dreadful KIRK FRANKLIN track that samples Patrice Rushen's "Haven't You Heard"

5) GLORIA SCOTT - "Too Much Love Making"

Got to agree with this one, I've never heard it played out though thankfully. I got a copy cheap when it was going for a ton or so but I hadn't heard it and when I put it on the deck I could not believe what came out of the speakers . How could anyone play it? why would anyone dance to it? Absolutely shite record I have one on ebay at the moment

Yes you're right Rob , it's just that there's so many superb oldies that rarely get played these days , it amazes me that more people don't get bored by these constantly played records , I can't remember the last time I heard really well known oldies like The Poppies " Pain in my heart " or ultra soulful sides like Lou Edwards " Talkin ' bout poor folks " or Jo Armstead " I got the vibes " for instance , I know it's the DJ's job to entertain , but surely we should try and inspire them as well ? Got to agree Pete. One of many that I never tire of, although probably partly due to the fact that I don't go to "Oldies" do's every weekend. I think playing a lot of the same oldies every weekend does actually kill off brilliant records.

It baffles me that anyone could say that they never want to hear Little Anthony again. They just cannot be listening properly. The intro alone is a work of art that heralds the pleasures to come rather like the few seconds of hiss that tell you something good is coming on a record but which is missing on a CD. 'Better Use Your Head' is not just a record, it is as timeless a treasure as any piece of high classical or classic jazz. And it sums up the magic of Northern Soul. I have it on a loop as I type this. Never listen to it again? Better use your ears.

Always used to hear it at the 100 club . Ion used to play it ages ago and heard it quite a lot there over the years there. Loved the intro though and used to really like it and suddenly just went off it!! Sure I read once it was actually from a stage show!!

The most overplayed over rated record that has ever graced a turntable has to be Luther VanDROSS "Never too much" followed closely by Just Brothers - "Sliced Tomatoes" then Deon Jackson (Bobby Vee in disguise) "Someday the sun will shine" - Joey De Larenzo - "Shove it where the sun don't shine" and finally Ace Spectrum - "Please send somebody else"

I think maybe we have to make a distinction between the merely overplayed & the dire.

I never tire of hearing, in the right context, the tempos, the glories, eddie parker, johnny moore etc...
