Carlf Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 You couldn't sell it for a fiver 10 years ago. Had it in my box for years and ended up selling it for £3.
Kegsy Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 (edited) I used to leave these in the rack on Bradford market, didnt like it then and still dont. Edited September 17, 2014 by Kegsy
Garswood Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Total madness, £216 now, wtf ... I got one for £40 6 months ago
Guest Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 I didn`t like it back then and I don`t recall hearing it since but having played it now I think its very good.
John Moffatt Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 (edited) So, £216 on John Manship's auction. Anyone got anything rational to add? It's a great two-sider, but..... Edited September 18, 2014 by John Moffatt
Popular Post Pete S Posted September 18, 2014 Author Popular Post Posted September 18, 2014 So, £216 on John Manship's auction. Anyone got anything rational to add? It's a great two-sider, but..... Let's see who the first person on this site to put up a copy for sale at £100+ is, quoting it's auction price... £30 record all day all year 4
Guest turntableterra Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 I think its a truly great record, yes it went for a ridiculously high price, I couldn't believe it. but you get trust and assurance from buying from john. IMHO
Ian Dewhirst Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 I used to leave these in the rack on Bradford market, didnt like it then and still dont. Second that. That stall used to groan from the weight of those Broadways 7"s. The world has gone crazy.....this has always been a £1 record in my book. Ian D
Northern Soul Uk Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 (edited) Doesn't it make you think that there may be a bit of Shill bidding going on sometimes when you see these cheap records selling at ridiculous prices? There's a couple I've seen lately and thought that something isn't right, like the Sheila Anthony - Livin in love on Route up to £67.50 with 4 days to go that's on there now. Sorry should point out I mean on eBay not JMs auctions.https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sheila-Anthony-Livin-In-Love-Woman-To-Woman-RT-13-UK-7-1stP-1975-Route-/291238767509?pt=UK_Records&hash=item43cf2eeb95 Edited September 18, 2014 by Northern Soul UK
Jordirip Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 but you get trust and assurance from buying from john. IMHO Trust and assurance that you've paid way, way over the top for very common record and that people think you're daft. Money well spent. 3

Chalky Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 but you get trust and assurance from buying from john. IMHO And you don't with anyone else? 2
Pete S Posted September 18, 2014 Author Posted September 18, 2014 And you don't with anyone else? Thats what I was thinking...
Steve L Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 I think its a truly great record, yes it went for a ridiculously high price, I couldn't believe it. but you get trust and assurance from buying from john. IMHO What 216 pounds worth of trust and assurance? Ridiculous, the worlds gone mad - it'd be good if the person who bought it would come on here and explain why he thinks its a good idea to pay over £200 for a £30 record…. 1
davidwapples Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 You could buy 5 copies for less than the auction value and hope one is ok and still be better off 1
Theothertosspot Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 (edited) Total madness, £216 now, wtf ... I got one for £40 6 months ago Got mine off Rudzy for £4 when talk of it was going to be big soon (1992) but never happened. Edited September 18, 2014 by theothertosspot
Guest Soulskate70 Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 This is actually one of my all time favourites.... I was after a mint copy on ebay a few weeks back and lost the auction in the last seconds for under £40. I really do wonder who pays these premium prices....? Maybe there are a lot of Japanese guys who bid on the Manship auctions, as I know a lot of Japanese collectors (not just of records) by UK standards have very deep pockets.....
Frankie Crocker Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Manship mania. Plain tune finally has it's day and value spirals. Invest now in the Royalettes, the next big MGM sound. Sell April Stevens, it's had it's day. Hold Dotty Cambridge, it might go big (price wise) one day. Why buy stocks and shares when you can speculate on labels. MGM is the new Shrine so bid accordingly wannabe DJ's...Off to the footie now... 3
Guest UPTITE U250A Posted September 21, 2014 Posted September 21, 2014 I used to leave these in the rack on Bradford market, didnt like it then and still dont. that's because you can't back drop into the climaxes of the record,Kegs -too many dinner time sessions with Andy Simpson has left you knackered !! -and have you managed to dump all those Reggie Sadler's and Fabulous Fours yet??
