Ernie Andrews Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 Hi Just wanted to ask if anyone was having delivery delays from the states. Ive got 4 or five records to come but are overdue by a week or two. Some people in America say they are having delays getting them out of the country due to customs.! Cheers Steve

Maybe check the type of postage you agreed to with the seller. I bought a Gladys Knight LP three weeks ago, emailed the seller to find out where it was and they told me i'd unwittingly paid for Economy Surface Mail, apparently it can take up to 45 days for delivery . I'll make sure i check or request airmail next time. If like you say things are slow i'll probably be waiting over a month M.

I'm still waiting for a package that was sent surface mail late april. Worst thing is that the seller didnt tell me and charged me like it was airmail
Guest Dan Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 actually, i've bought several things lately which have taken ages so yes, suffering the same thing
ShorterSoul Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 (edited) Won a copy of Marion Black on Capsoul off ebay 15/5/06 for $40. Paid for same day and sender posted it USPS with no insurance cover. Week or so later sender confirmed it was sent and gave me the USPS tracking number. When I checked their website it confirmed - Your item was accepted at 11:03 am on May 23, 2006 in ALIQUIPPA, PA 15001. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later. One month later and it still hadn't arrived I sent an e-mail to the USPS asking if they could trace it, got the following reply back Thank you for visiting our website. I understand you would like information regarding your mail piece. Ordinary Letter Post and Global Priority Mail (GPM) items do not offer tracking or tracing as part of the service. For this reason, the members of the Universal Postal Union have agreed that accepting or processing inquiries for Letter Post and GPM items is not mandatory. Accordingly the United States Postal Service has decided that it will no longer accept inquires on Letter Post items, including Global Priority Mail. We appreciate your notifying us of the possible delay or loss of the item you mailed. Please accept our apology for the possible delay or loss of this item and the inconvenience this matter has caused you. If I can be of assistance to you in the future, please don't hesitate to contact me. Thank you for choosing the United States Postal Service. So, its 10 weeks on and still no sign of the 45. I'm just thankful if was only $40 and not $400!! Been buying off ebay for past 5 years and this is the first time somethings gone missing Edited August 3, 2006 by ShorterSoul

Richard Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 My latest arrival from the states took about 5 days A while back though I was waiting on an LP for about 12 weeks
John Elias Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 Received a 45 yesterday(2nd Aug),sender said he posted 17 July....like yeah I thought,checked post mark,was the 17th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,still, GREAT LAXATIVE!
Tsu Tomatoes Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 I've had the same problems with late deliveryies. I even went to the sorting office to see if the postie had forgotten to drop a card in to let me know a parcel was waiting. Waiting on 5 records for 4 weeks, but today one posted last week arrived. I've even mailed the sellers and have had scans of proof of postage, so I guess there's a problem somewhere
Wilxy Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 Whilst I've never had many problems with vinyl from the USA, postage wise, I had some Cd's from I believe Hip-o-select prior to them stopping shipping to the UK, but could only get them from the sorting office if I paid £22 customs charges It was two of the Complete Motown singles series sets, and as they had put the value of the goods on the packet, Uncle Sam wanted his share also
Edwin S Wales Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 I've been waiting for a few weeks for a 45 from the states...bought from a buyer I've dealt with several times before....was started to lose hope ,til I read this post...hopefully there's a backlog of post somewhere and our 45's are gonna turn up
Guest dundeedavie Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 i got an album in about 10 days from cali , no problems
Larsc Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 (edited) Usps has probably hired a new worker for their international package service. He's a record collector Edited August 5, 2006 by LarsC
paultp Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 I'm waiting for a couple of things though it seems that the crap stuff and over graded stuff always gets through with no problems. Perhaps this should be in the conspiracy theory bit but I've thought about the problem and I reckon its a bit like global warming in that the signs have always been there but people are just sitting up and taking notice. As we all know although each record only wieghs a few ounces, once you get a number of records together the weight of them is quite significant. Well the removal of all this ballast from the states has been found to cause two problems: 1. the USA is getting lighter and 2: The UK is getting heavier. The upshot of these problems is that the lower overall altitude of the UK is causing flooding and abnormally hot weather wheras the USA's corresponding altitude increase has lowered the temperature causing failure of orange crops in Florida. Am I right or am I right? Both governments are taking these problems seriously and are thus restricting the flow of vinyl. I urge our US freinds to purchase more of the rubbish we put on eBay in order that we may take delivery of the quality items we buy from them. Cheers Paul P.S. What do you think of my new avatar? Cool or what?
