jocko Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 and who is angela davies ? what did she do ? jason I don't know, but Angela Davis was an interesting character https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angela_Davis Her autobiography is excellent, a great read of the times, but better is her book If The Come In The Morning. A very articulate writer Thankfully things like this don't happen in the USA any more.......

Totally agree about her books - worth reading But not at all sure about the last comment , unless you're being sarcastic , in which case I'll get my coat Edited September 15, 2014 by ricticman

Guest Mrs M Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 I flogged mine about 5 years ago for £100. Bought it in the early 9t's from Craig Moorer who had a few still sealed at the time. Only paid about $20 for it. Dickie Wonder and Little Tommy on the album - quality and it was recorded and put out to help raise money in the campaign to Free Angela Davis..
Steve G Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 and who is angela davies ? what did she do ? jason She was involved in a shooting at a court house. I used to know more about it, it's gone now.
Guest Polyvelts Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 I read her talking about her life as a political activist, working with the black panthers, feminist etc After which all she would be remembered for is the size of her Afro. except in the uk where she's known for a soul compilation LP
Soulfulsolutions Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 (edited) When I had the LP I thought I would do a bit of background reading based on sleeve notes, uncovered that the album was compiled by a number of local artists to raise bail money, think she was an over active activist! Some great tunes on the album and probably 75-100. Edited November 4, 2014 by SoulfulSolutions 1
Geoff Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Back in my leftwing days Lesley and I went on a march in London demanding that she be freed. Can't remember what date and year it was though.
Tsu Tomatoes Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 She was involved in a shooting at a court house. I used to know more about it, it's gone now. I did read up on all this last year Steve. The shooting was linked to the Atticre Massacre
Philippe Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 (edited) Even the Rolling Stones made a song about her "Sweet Black Angel". I like this LP with Larry Saunders though I prefer his solo "Stranger". Edited November 2, 2014 by Philippe 1
