Guest Dave Ward Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Out on the Streets Again (abc) is my fave, but was there ever an 'Out on the Streets (abc), that preceded it ?
Geeselad Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I really love the 'what's happening stateside' budget album they put out in the 8ts, played it to death, loads of great cuts, garnet mimms, isleys, marv jonhson. 1
Guest Rubber Soul Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 When it comes to a various artists compilation CD, "SO SOULFUL 70s" (CDKEND 175), released 1999, is a really strong contender! Amazing Atlantic 70s dancers, oozing with soul... As for proper Northern, "NORTHERN MONSTERS" (CDKEND 272) from 2007 is just brilliant... Kent delivers, as usual!!
Popular Post Orotava Posted September 15, 2014 Popular Post Posted September 15, 2014 Jumping At The Go Go - the RCA compilation gets my vote 6
Guest Polyvelts Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 'This is Northern Soul' on Grapevine - so many, many great tracks !! (except Tony Middleton !!) 'Movin on up' The Kent abc comp
Soulhawk1960 Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 The Rare, Collectable And Soulful compilations from Kent get my vote. 1

Christian Punky Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Up All Night and Up All Night 2, was my faves as a youngster
Mal C Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Sorry I cant just pick one, Soul Class of 66, Up Town Down South, So Soulful 70s, Soulful Kinda Music / For Collectors Only, The Northern Soul Of L.A. Vol 2, simply because it had Troy Dodds and June Jackson on it... and the daddy of em all for me, Modern Soul Connoisseurs that one Richard Serling put together, cost a about a fiver when it came out, and what a track listing given the normal pit falls of licensing songs from various sources... in fact he mentioned on his show recently that this comp just happened, everything he asked for became available and out it came, sheers quality comp... Mal.C 1
Guest Polyvelts Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 what's the wrong with tony middleton? Nowt, I'm just not a big fan of 'to the ends of the Earth'.
Chalky Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I couldn't pick one, so many great compilations. All unique and have their own qualities.

Ady Croasdell Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 God your right!! How the hell did it get on there? M It was a Goldmine CD, though to be fair we all make mistakes and it was early doors.
Guest in town Mikey Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 (edited) Capitol Soul Casino is my fave LP. Floorshakers is my fave Kent LP. And Peter is right. it is a moody one, but that Up All Night is a belter. Another moody but goody was the Kool Kat thing with Stuart Ames, etc on. Edited September 15, 2014 by in town Mikey

Supercorsa Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Numerous favourite Kent LPs, Floorshakers, Footstompers & Soul Class 66 amongst others, spring to mind. As for for cd compilation, it has to be Sought After Soul 4CD compiled by Dave Flynn, has to be close to the top of the list! 1

Guest chrislokeh Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Northern Soul of Motown 1&2 every tracks brilliant
Soul16 Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 The best compilation ever is probably on Kent, but it is impossible for me to pick out just one. Otherwise, for sentimental reasons, I would have to pick Jumping at the Go Go - hearing that LP for the first time was a defining moment for me. I have the orange label version, but I believe that it was also issued with a black label too. 1
Guest the fifer Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I'd go for the "This is Loma " series absolutley essential Derek
Mark S Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Ian Levine compiled Solid soul sensations all Sceptre wand stuff brilliant . Got it on the black stuff and cd .
maslar Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 All the RCA/Grapevine releases were excellent but if I had to choose one from that era (70s) it would be Motown Memories (16 non-stop..... etc).
