Chalky Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 Same group, same recording. I seem to remember there's a picture of it's Whale release in the sleeve notes. of that CD. pretty sure the label owner said in a later interview that the springers weren't the ethics
Chalky Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 it's a good record but it ain't great, over rated and over priced IMHO
Md Records Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 Just came back on line, after a well earned break and saw this thread, and can only tell you what I've been told. The Ethics are NOT the Springers, and never recorded "Nothings too good etc" When "collectibles" got the tapes off Thaddeus Wale (owner of the Wale & Ves Thad label & mentor of the "Ethics" amongst other things) he also gave them the Springers tapes, possibly unlabelled, and I think that's where the confusion began. The Springers only recorded at the most a dozen sides, and when a C.D.of the "Best Of The Springers" was put out in 2002 it had to be seriously padded out with alternate takes, instrumental versions etc. Thaddeus didn't even have a photo of the group for the cover, in fact one of the group has a photo, but figures it is as rare, therefore as valuable as the disc and wants $10,000 for it!
