Guest Ivor Jones Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Brilliant record....I tried in vain for about 15 years to get a mate to sell me his copy. Then that batch turned up on eBay, think they came from a distributors didn't they ? This used to be super rare..... I managed to get one for a good price as well. One of the all time great Soul records( great flip side too) a winner all round ! Great on any label of course but I had to have an Impel copy. Nice !
Derek Pearson Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Gotta agree Ivor as a soul record that's an absolute joy to dance to it doesn't get much better than this. Even after probably hearing it played out at least once a month somewhere for the last 30 odd years it still that special X factor that still makes me wanna shimmy my old bones about. Now I don't know if I've read it somewhere or been told it by people I trust that the Impel 45 is a slightly different take/mix that the one on Seventy Seven? What say you? Derek

Guest Ivor Jones Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 I agree with Dave,it's identical to the Seventy7 version. They only licensed from Impel anyway didn't they ? It looks like all the remaining Impel copies ended up with the Jukebox distributors when it was licensed to Seventy7. That's what I think anyway. It adds up if you think about it. If you licensed a track that had been pressed up previously, you wouldn't want any knocking around to dent any potential sales if you could help it would you. I suppose sticking the Impel copies into Jukeboxes( ouch ! The thought of it ! Haha) solved all those problems. They wouldn't have to supply extra copies for Jukeboxes then either would they. I assume that's why it was so rare before all those copies turned up. Like Derek says, it has that X factor( the REAL X FACTOR ), doesn't matter how many times I hear it, works every time. Also, probably the most "Southern" Northern Soul record ever ! Love it.......
