Look forward to seeing him in a couple of weeks :)

Should be a great gig ..

I can not let this thread go without giving a shout to my mate Francis who plays bass in a band ....

Not in the same league as most of these guys .. but Incognito think he's ok enough to give him the gig :)

Nice one Francis

Great thread - liked the guy playing 'The Night' - wondered what he'd do when he got to the bridge between verse and chorus where it really kicks off, but he absolutely nailed it - quite a hard part to work out too, I reckon

A few nice basslines that do it for me - not particularly fancy playing (apart from Brainstorm) but right on the money:-

Bobbi Humphrey - Harlem River Drive

Bobby Reed - The time is right for love

King Tutt - You got me hung up

Brainstorm - We're on our way home

Couple of others that really come to life bass-wise on big sound systems are Cissy Houston 'I just don't know what to do with myself' and Joe Hicks 'Funky', which for me kicks some serious arse in the final furlong

Cheers, Chris.

My favourite bass players, Leroy Sibbles of The Heptones and Studio One session man, some of the incredible bass lines he invented for Studio One that have been used over and over again...and Jah Wobble on PIL's album Metal Box...

My favourite Meters-song / jam "Ain't no Use" with George Porter jr. on bass. First part is sublime and I wouldn't mind hearing it at a nighter, second part is when Porter and his colleagues let loose.
