I admire your loyalty to KR but I'm afraid it's very misplaced!

KR knew exactly what was going on, he came upstairs before the police arrived. He saw what was happening and disappeared, he was later seen hiding behind some soulies downstairs! That is fact, I was there!

So how long must we wait for the outcome???

Haven't got any loyalty to KR, don't even know the bloke & have never been to one of his productions. Just thought it might heal things a bit & perhaps encourage him to offer an appology to those who were (alledgedly) wronged maybe .

For what it's worth, the following is a verbatim quote from KR's editorial page in the most recent N-Soul magazine:

Going back to the beginning when all this kicked off, I informed KR that the wristbands used in New York were the same colour as Whitby and that another full box was seen waiting to be used. His reply to me on that - "It's none of your business." I thought at the time - what a strange comment!!! He's now admitting that there appears to have been more than 1500 wristbands.

I don't think that is the case here Simon, its about various people sticking together when mates have been subject to abuse both legally and illegally, from someone whom thinks they have the god given right to stop individuals from commenting on an issue that directly involved them, if indeed a witch hunt was started it was by him, trying to get other promotors to "Ban" the individuals who dared to complain.

Go back to the origins of the thread...it was originally about what happened at Whitby. The thread then turned into a witchunt. The fact that the 'questions' haven't been answered should perhaps be taken as an answer in itself.

The point was made long long ago in this thread that people are unhappy with what happened at Whitby (whatever it was..theres still a lot of conjecture and always will be because there are always two sides to every story) and what subsequetly happened on this thread. It's all flogging a dead horse.

What 'answers' can really be expected now? What ever is said will be wrong because mind were made up a long time ago. If people feel that strongly they can vote with their feet or their wallets or it starts to look like a witch hunt.

What this is really about in my opinion, is the dispicable treatment that some members of soul source have been subjected too, that have made people angry, its also about the attitude of the said promotor who evidently doesn't give a damn, just so long as a buck is being made regardless of anyone being injured or "locked out" of one of his venues. Its about bully boy tactics that is no longer acceptable in todays society, no matter what you've done for "the past 30 years". No one in the first instance questioned the music, or its policy used within the promotors framework, and I fail to see what connection regarding the listening of "radio 2" has to do in this subject. I also think that despite current members being aware of the thread, it should remain to give those "new or returning" to the scene an informed choice.

A good friend of mine C said that he went to his so called do in the states and was told that he would have some kind of refund as a welcome pack because of the f" up no pack in the states or when he got back witch hunt no way shows the man what he is

Just got back from holiday and read this thread with interest. I gave up supporting anything to do with Kev Roberts severals ago when I "won" a competition on his radio show but the prizes changed after I had won!!! My brother also heard a recording of the show on a different Radio station and confirmed what I thought I'd won. When I mentioned this to KR we were both banned from entering future competitions ????? I told him to keep the prizes and have kept away ever since.

At least this topic gives people a chance to really see what KRL is about..At the end of the day the man got NO RESPECT for people and sees them as another ticket only...I have no problem with promoters making a living/profit out of the soul scene,its hard work putting events together and takes a lot of time and energy..

This post is a look at the man who not only wants to swamp the scene with large scale revival nights in many towns with established soul nights and show little regard to the local promoters...This is the large supermarket coming to your town and the corner shop going out of business....The man in the corner shop as not got a chance on is own and thats why this topic and this forum are here....Soul source is collection of corner shops and the people who shop there,if we all come together then we can tell mr Tesco that we are staying open and offer something extra to our customers...When was the last time you could have a chat with the boss at the supermarket and share a joke or two....I know that Kev will be lurking and looking at this topic,will he come back with any answers about Whitby Gate,No.......He will be looking at other ways of bringing in the cash to keep the king of the castle happy...If the circus comes to your town then tell the ringmaster,no thanks we know that you treat your customers, just like the animals...

My freinds paid good money for a weekend in Whitby and got spat at for asking a few questions...The only reply was an email to say you are banned from all my shows in the future...He thought these women would stop asking questions but they stood up and said no way Mr Roberts,you have gone tooooooooooooo far...

Like the song says."shop around" and see whats on offer,don't just go towards the bright lights of the supermarket..You will put a pound in the trolley and then find it dont work..You then ask the manager for another pound and he says "go away and your are banned from this store and all my other stores"....

Both were subjected to bullying emails and in Mags' case a bullying letter from KR, threatening legal action against her purely for the post her friend put up on the Whitby thread. Read her post yourself. As for threatening PMs to Kirsty, do you condone that or think it's right? She's a paying punter remember and cannot in any way be part of the anti-KR or anti-making money brigade. Read Kirsty's posts which asked legitimate questions relating to her friends being locked out(Kirsty was inside). KR's PMs were threatening and bullying.

This could all have ended ages ago had KR come on here and explained and answered the legitimate questions posed, so claimimg it is a "witch hunt" is frankly bollocks and I wish you'd stop whining on about it. It can't be a witch hunt when he's offered the chance to put his side of the story but refuses and in so doing shows total disrespect for his paying customers. To my mind, the following need answering:

1. How many wristbands were there and how many tickets were sold by KR?

2. Once the situation had started, why did nobody take down the names and addresses of the punters outside? This would have at least placated some people. As it is, there are numerous people who had paid for tickets who were locked out and whose names and addresses were never taken. Please explain why this wasn't done (as Kirsty legitimately and politely asked in her first post). If people bought a ticket legitimately and were locked out, names not taken and not been offered a refund then that is clearly a breach of contract. If the situation was too volatile on the night for KR to go outside and take down the names personally, what has been done since by the promoters to try and trace these innocent punters? It's clear from the thread that lots of people at the event loved it and enjoyed it, albeit they were not involved in being locked out. Mark 65 posted "However the situation on Saturday night spoilt it for me and I along with my 5 friends decided to leave when Kev asked for volunteers, and on getting up on Sunday morning headed straight home as the enjoyment had gone. On speaking with Kev on Saturday night before I left he gave us his 'cast iron guarantee' that we would receive a full refund, yet no comment is made of this in the news article I have just read." - I'd be interested to know, has Mark 65 been given a full refund?? Mark 65 are you reading this? Are there people on here that were locked out and have not been offered a refund?

3. Clearly anyone selling forged tickets is a scumbag (as are the soulies who purchased them) and should be banned from everywhere. Is it true the court case is now over? If so, what was the result (a name and the court where it was heard would be great so we can verify) and has it been established exactly how many he sold? Is it true as has been suggested he had all his money (found on him) returned to him? As KR himself said in the thread "We cannot answer the question until the Police and Security have delivered us a full report". Well now the case is allegedly over, let's have the answers then.

4. Even if the whole fiasco was entirely down to the forger, surely surely surely, KR & Snowy should have said the simple words "I'm Sorry" to their legitimate paying punters (even though it was mostly out of their control (if it was)). Not once has this been said. Once it was public knowledge what KR had PM'd to Kirsty, he relented slightly and said she wasn't banned for life, but did not once mutter the simple words "I'm sorry". Bullying paying punters and then not saying sorry is in my opinion pretty awful.

At the very least, this has been handled pretty badly in my opinion in terms of innocent paying punters being locked out and names and addresses not taken. As Pete S said ages ago, this could be sorted very quickly if KR came back on here and answered the specific questions and points raised. I have no axe to grind with KR, but anyone reading these threads can see that points need answering (that were initially presented in a legitimate and polite manner). Carte blanche refusing to comment does nobody any good and just leaves people frustrated and angry and aggrieved if they were one of the victims. I'd urge KR and Snowy to simply come on here and answer the points raised and then maybe we can all move forward constructively and get some recompense for the innocent victims and stop speculating as to what really happened. These are my thoughts exactly, absolutely in a nutshell.

As far as I can see there are one of 2 people that can put an end to this, KR or Snowy.

Just a note to let everyone know that we got a registered envelope from Goldsoul and in it was two vouchers for next years Whitby value £30 each !

The vouchers state that you have to collect your tickets at the venue and to bring with you proof of address and photo id.

We obviously got the vouchers because when KR would'nt come to the door to explain what was happening, eventually Snowy came to try and calm things down, at that time loads of us put our names and addresses on the back of flyers as Snowy said he would try to sort us a refund out.

Inside the registered envelope were two vouchers and three flyers !

The most important thing that should have been in the envelope was'nt !

2- Those who have been advocating a boycott of KR;s events, fair play to ya however he does have a following and those that wish to keep on supporting him, 'keep on keeping on'

3- I like Kev Roberts though the way he and others connected with him has been poor, I hope he learns from his mistakes.

Lets ALL move on and look forward to this weekends offerings whereever you may live.
