Dave Thorley Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Dave, If all the people who NOW say they went to Stafford actually HAD you'd have made money every time. Derek Yes more people must have gone to Stafford than Wigan, but most of them must not have paid cuz I never saw them. Or they went on a night when I wasn't there

Simon T Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 Nah me neither...would nt catch me sitting on the stairs Anyone used to go in to the 'top of the grot' before the niter? Particularly remember 1985 Colonel Abrams - Trapped. Now there's a seperate thread, people actually born with strange names; General Johnson, Prince, Madonna, Colonel

Guest in town Mikey Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Nah me neither...would nt catch me sitting on the stairs Ah, but it was on the stairs that I heard Dave play Valarie Lamar - Shame (C/U Anne Sexton - Sneaking round corners). The last few stragglers were being removed from the main room, and a queue from the upstairs room had formed on the stairs. How great did it sound? About the best any record sounded at the niter IMHO.

Respect my friend.
Guest Spinning Vinyl Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 memories indeed, then off to Sandbach services for a full english breakfast of FAF on toast Glad in either of the clips on here my bit was edited out ... that sounded bad ... was dancing to something but not the music on the clip so looked extra crap ... unless it was the tune and I didnt give two hoots Is sad to see Pete though, what a waste
Guest Byrney Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Got to ask Whilst Pete is talking it cuts to three Guys on the stairs; one in a black top with light trousers having a drink. Who is this Guy. think he may be from Bedford and was around at loads of nighters early 80s. Reason I ask that during my... ahem.. sabbatical from the scene (which I'm still partially on) I'm sure I used to see this guy at clubs I used to frequent (MOS, Lost, The End) Or it could just be the ramblings of a fool who indulged too much in the heady days
Guest ZTSC Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Thanks for that . That video is Pete Lawson , that video is no frills Northern Soul - the way it should be !!
Guest SteveJohnston Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Dave, If all the people who NOW say they went to Stafford actually HAD you'd have made money every time. Derek My attendance at Stafford was nil, But i was at the Bushbury Arms last night and Simon Hunt did the best Stafford spot i ever listend to, just one hour of CLASS 60' Soul that was mind blowing, I'ts at times like that i wish i had a full attendance record for the TOTW.
