Craig W Posted November 2, 2004 Posted November 2, 2004 On a similar note to another thread at the moment about the first ever soul record , what soul records where well ahead of there time and groundbreaking . Ill start with a very early 60s track- Fortune Teller - Benny Spellman.
Guest Jamie Posted November 3, 2004 Posted November 3, 2004 This one applies to a different era, although everytime I hear it I can't believe it's early 70's (73 or 74 I think?) Arnold Blair 'Trying To Get Next To You' That could be released tomorrow and be a hit on the so-called 'r&b' charts. So far ahead of its time it's staggering!!! Jamie
Pete S Posted November 3, 2004 Posted November 3, 2004 A track I mentioned last week - Baby washington "You could never be mine" (Neptune) this is from 1958 and is superb, I've been plugging it for about 5 years and it would go down great at a venue except it has a messy jazz break right in the middle.
Guest in town Mikey Posted November 3, 2004 Posted November 3, 2004 A ladies choice??? I'll get me you know..
