Guest MBarrett Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 I'll kick this off with the rambling "Gospel according to Pete Meaden" on The New Religion by Jimmy James & the Vagabonds. Any others . . . . . . . . ?
Mark S Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Junior Walkers Shotgun album on MFP the sleeve notes give you a load of bumf but the nugget is " Music from the heart for the feet " sums it up nicely for me
Mellorful Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 The wife and I went watching Jimmy James and the Vagabonds at Butlins in Minehead in January this year and I must say they were brilliant; JJ vocals were outstanding and next January if Butlins are repeating the Soul weekender with JJ and the Vagabonds at Minehead we will be going again. When he sang 'feel the need in me' and a few Barry White tunes if you shut my eyes you could be forgiven for thinking records of the original artists were playing. As a soul Artist JJ still has what it takes. 1

I wonder what was in Mr Meadon's blood stream when he wrote that? runs like a saturday night chat
Johndelve Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 The majority of Swamp Dogg's albums have highly entertaining sleeve notes written by the man himself.
Kjw Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Nothing can top George Clinton's notes on the Funkadelic albums
