Stockholmsoulfox Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 (edited) Variations " I Wanna Take You Uptown" Right On Records. Looking for a VG++/Ex copy at a reasonable price PM me please. Cheers Pete Edited August 12, 2014 by stockholmsoulfox
Louis Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 This record seems to have shot up in value lately with one going on ebay in July for over £300 and one today going for over £400. I had one in my sales box for £20 about 4 years ago, but no one interested. Still got it, but won't be selling till next year when I plan to get rid of all my vinyl. Always thought it had a Temptations sound to it. I didn't think it was that rare, but obviously there is a demand now. Good luck Louis 1
Tim Smithers Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 What is reasonable these days, may let mine go

Stockholmsoulfox Posted August 12, 2014 Author Posted August 12, 2014 Its certainly not a £300 record in terms of rarity, it's relativley common but popular again given its uptempo funky feel . A couple of copies have gone for high money on ebay recentley but I missed one a few months back for $156 which I think is about right even given current popularity? Would rate it circa £100-£125 as a reasonable price from a buyers perspective? Pete
Greety Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 Sold mine a while ago for a bit less then that doh! Still there's a happy punter out there somewhere!
Rudzy Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 (edited) Another Amazing Anomaly in the world of northern soul. Probably a lot rarer than we all imagined Edited August 13, 2014 by RUDZY
Popular Post Liljimmycrank Posted August 14, 2014 Popular Post Posted August 14, 2014 (edited) Probably a lot rarer than we all imaginedNo it's not. Just two random auction results (one from a seller renowned for achieving the extraordinary on their auctions), coupled with a rising demand and people cashing in on their copies as a result. It doesn't have the quality to stay at that top price level in my opinion and will settle back down. You only have to go back 3-4 months and regularly see copies selling for £80! Plenty about, and you'll see plenty more with folk cashing in (fair play to them). But have a little patience, wait for the bubble to burst and buy it for £80-120 again Azza Edited August 14, 2014 by LilJimmyCrank 7
Rudzy Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 You talk a lot of sense Little Johnny, This has happened on a few occasions with various tunes. However not always the case and sometimes a record can go HIGHER & HIGHER.
Guest Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 I've sold three copies on here...two in 2011 for £25 and £30 the other last year for £50. Used to be around at £8 and cheaper many moons ago...ex-Keb spin...good track and I'm sure the OP will get a copy at a reasonable price soon...like the instrumental myself! 2
Rudzy Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 So all this willy waving about who sold this and who sold that this year last year BLAH BLAH BLAH can anybody offer this poor fella the tune he needs to satisfy his soul 1
Guest Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 So all this willy waving about who sold this and who sold that this year last year BLAH BLAH BLAH can anybody offer this poor fella the tune he needs to satisfy his soul Just putting things into perspective Paul...which will hopefully lead to the OP obtaining a copy at a non-inflated price.
Stockholmsoulfox Posted August 14, 2014 Author Posted August 14, 2014 Thanks lads, it confirms my expectations on value and it's certainly one that laid unwanted in sales boxes a few years back. It's one of those Stafford spins that sounds even better with the years hence the post. As I said a reasonable price is what I'm after but there's no hurry.. The instrumental was the side I remember from first time round Flynny..
Chalky Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 It might not be as rare as current prices suggest but there are not plenty of copies about for sale. Yes there has been half dozen lately but prior to that people were looking for some time to try and get copies. People are still looking without much joy so that tells you a different story. I'm not saying they aren't tucked away in collections, they are but they aren't on the open market. I sold my copy a few weeks ago and yes I got a very good price but I could have sold it half a dozen times for around the price I got. Yes the bubble will burst, demand will drop but until then...... 1
Guest Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 I sold my copy a few weeks ago and yes I got a very good price but I could have sold it half a dozen times for around the price I got. Do I get a share of the profit then, considering what you bought it from me from 2
Micksmix Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Sold a spare copy on here with a slight label tear for £20-£25 a couple of years ago only for the buyer saying he no longer wanted it?? Think I sold it shortly after to Phil T for the same money,ah well !!!!
Rudzy Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 MR. BLAH BLAH somebody come up with a BUY IT NOW PLEASE!!
Tim Smithers Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 (edited) Come on, is there anyone on here that would sell a record for £100 after seeing two go for £300 /£400 ? Edited August 14, 2014 by tim smithers 3
pow wow mik Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 (edited) No one sells a record when it's hot, except for top money. strange one this, should be my kind of thing but I'm just not feeling it - got it at a fair for a quid in the 90s, sold it for £2 soon after...maybe £3... Edited August 14, 2014 by pow wow mik
Markw Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Nobody's got one for sale They have, but Tim Smithers hit the nail on the head.
Guest Bearsy Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 A copy sold only a few days ago on EBay for $743.00 so I will happily sell you my copy for $500.00. Its in at least Ex condition and plays perfect.
Stockholmsoulfox Posted August 15, 2014 Author Posted August 15, 2014 I think I've made my valuation clear lads. I understand of course that seeing a couple of vastly overpriced auctions go through is going to raise price expectations (temporarily?) so I'm happy to wait for the right price. One was on facebook Rare Soul Sales at £200 this week and hadn't sold last time I looked which suggests that that price is also to high.. It's been an interesting debate though... 1
Dave Morris Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Sold mine a few weeks ago for £60 which i thought was a fair price. Had it for a while but was just sat there on shelf so moved it on. Only had one enquiry when it was up for sale. Not my thing.
Peter Richer Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 May well go for even more money now: https://www.raresoulman.co.uk/index.php/auction/latest Then how long to wait for a £150 copy ...? 1
