Jackey Beavers Show We're Not Too Young To Fall In Love

Just dropped this killer back into my DJ box after playing this and realizing people just ain’t had enough of this screaming delight!

Like an old friend who doesn’t owe you money, I’m welcoming this spectacular 45 back into my life with open arms. The desperately beseeching vocal shares the pain as this despair drenched session is turned into an exacting Northern Soul dancer by a torrent of stabbing horns.

As a dance tune, this is just fabulous.. as a Soul tune it is utterly captivating.. The time is right for a Jackey Beavers renaissance..

just too darn good not to…

The Jaedes The Jaedes

Wow not only another seriously elusive LP you could not pick fault with. But one so full of Northern Soul dance tracks that didn’t reach 45 we have soundfiled fully 7 of the 11 tracks it offers.

1.Big surprise

2.Color him father

3.Uh, uh, what did I do

4.What’ll it take to make you happy

5.Teach me (a lesson in love)

6.We’re gonna build a love together

7.I’ll be back on my feet again

Prepare to be impressed and also prepare for a little competition, this album does not come to market in this near perfect condition and at this moment in time the majority of soul collectors have not heard the sheer quality it gives up.

Click the soundfile for 6 dance tracks, 1 killer sweet soul and the other 4 tracks will remain a surprise for the next lucky owner because we think they are ever note as good..

Again a crucial DJ tool that is just as essential for home listening.. A stand-out platter in magnificent condition.

Roosevelt And The Seven C's Black Cat C/w We Were Always Sweethearts

Very rare version of Brian Auger’s classic hammond trip; backed up with a lush Northern Soul crossover stroller. Two contrasting but fabulous sides.

“Black Cat” leads with a audacious Hammond scything through to collide with searing trumpets blasts, the perfect intro for the gnarled lead vocal to pick up the baton and run with the compelling Funky dance rhythm, hurtling towards an unparalleled trumpet solo bringing in a Wah-Wah guitar assistance as the production adds layer after layer of pure attitude.. Killer version of an already fabulous tune..

Flipping it over the horns become attractively lazy and the hammond’s easy flow glides the song along, the lead vocal mellows but that trumpet again paints a picture for those who appreciate classy street-level craftsmanship..

Rarely seen for sale and again offering “Two For The Price Of One” value..

Deletts What's The Use C/w Look At Me

The long overdue reemergence of this spectacularly-sexy double-helping of Sister-Northern has started to happen!

Legendary Wigan Casino & Samantha’s resident John Vincent knows a sleeping Goliath when he hears one; as does highly regarded DJ Ian Gellatly who are both currently featuring this 45 in their sets.

The only problem for them being, which side to drop the arm on. I change my mind every time I play it…which side do you prefer?… difficult choice.

The side Blue Rock led with is an atmospheric mid-pace delight shimmering with class and purpose..just adore it, the pace being dead-right for todays discerning dancer.

Flip it over for a turbo-charged real-deal classic style stomper, relentless and destructive; an acrobat-inducing proper Northern Soul floor-destroyer.

For the discerning NS collector, it will not only be the two-for-one enticement that draws you to this rarity, it will also be the flawless condition. Another escapee from that lifelong file only collection we keep raiding..

You will not find a finer copy - or indeed to finer Girl-Sound Northern dancers back to back.

Ray Pollard Wanderlust C/w This Is No Laughing Matter

Absolutely his most elusive 45

Raising the question, why this New Yorker has never lifted itself up along side his iconic United Artist 45’s is a mystery, other than it being a damn challenging disc to find.

Take a listen to this Jimmy Radcliffe & Buddy Scott composition formulated by Bert “Super-hits” DeCoteaux, quite a combination of N.Y’s finest merging.

Click the soundfile and become aware of a potential Giant could begin to stir.

The seasoned vocal wades into the horn intro, our favourite man is in conquering form; Whether he’s booming low, purring or growling to destroy the high notes this man has the consummate Soul voice… but the highlight has got to be Bert’s insertion of a team of squawking Sisters resounding around the session. Them gals are so Northern, so very potent it elevates this great song yet another notch.

Brilliant!! a word we don’t use very often - but it truly is - so let’s get back to the first question I asked..because I know at this moment you’re asking it too.

PS the flipside showcases Ray’s superior vocal perfectly…

Ikettes What'cha Gonna Do C/w Down, Down

As you’d expect from the pen of Ike Turner, relentless, uncompromising PMT driven mid-60s dance Soul bristling with girl-power defiance. You cannot do a Twisted Wheel set justice without including this explosive session. That is why in recent time the USA Phi-Dan release has doubled in value… time will tell the demand for this example, the far, far rarer 1966 UK press.

A totally immaculate 1966 in near it’s original state; nearing a 1/2 century old and this copy’s only flaw are an occasional light minuscule paper sleeve contact blemish…a strong clear Mint -

You just don’t encounter high high conditions standards too often these days..

Naughty Ladies After All I've Done For You Babe C/w Hap-happy Girl

My vinyl-penchant is the extremely rare, the most unusual, the quirky different offerings that this passion of our throws you’re way when least expected.

Check out the auction debutant, a “Flamma Sherman-esque” harmonized girl-group Northern Soul groove that has Wigan Casino dripping on every note. Just so decidedly different, you just got play it again. Steadily uplifting you the more you hear, in the day when the Girl-Sound was “Queen” this could have been a monster tune.

I have been informed this did get a Casino outing or two (unconfirmed as yet) but insane rarity stopped is progress. It happened to far too many plays but today I’m loving it.

The diverse sound of Northern Soul that slipped by unnoticed back in the day…yes it’s different but you know I love “different”

Billboard 1968 Soul Special

A window into USA Soul music industry of 1968.

Rammed, packed full with colourful company adverts. Bio’s, Label stories. Label addresses, telephone numbers, contact names. Oh my word what could a young pioneering Brit done with that info at his fingertips in the late 60s.

There are fully 68 essential browsing and reading material to adsorb, we’ve only got space for 3 inside covers, we’ve chosen a snippet of some of the eye-catching independent record company ads.

A recording can take you back to recall any period of your life, but I found browsing though this magazine, an aching-need to go back in time and start searching for records all over again.

Totally fascinating read - artist pictures are stunning but the record company full page adverts are my favourite - I’m thinking and need another copy of this magazine, so i can go gets these beauties framed.

The Dogs Soul Step C/w Don't Try To Help Me

Wanna be rocketed back to the halcyon days of The Pier or The Casino when the instrumental was King! When records of this calibre you would have been willing to pay a month’s wages to own. When DJ’s had a swagger on stage, knowing hardly anyone else on the rostrum would be able to eclipse you…rare then, even rarer now!

I know I “Treasured” my copy once secured, cause we knew it was a floorpacker.. This tune has always been out-of-reach not only for the reason of whoever owns a copy is mighty reluctant to part but also partly for the fact that the vocal side is highly sought 60s garage/punk that today fits well with the MODS as well as the USA devotees to the Garage sound.

Again two stand out sides on one disc - seldom if ever comes to market…so click the soundfile and catapult ya’self back the ‘76 and those two steaming temples of Northern Soul..

Ice Productions I Do I Do(wanna Love You) C/w Holiday Of You

How did this vocal group dance groove slip pasted us all in the 70s?

D.I.Y. Oakland, California tight mover that Bob Cattaneo never picked up on (Bob was the master at the finding and promoting the Bay Area Soul new release to the Brits.) But also a Sweet Soul aficionado with few equals at the time.

1976 Oakland rare-soul dancer that briefly turned up very sparse numbers about 5 years ago. To be gobbled up by a fewforward thinking collectors/DJs. Today it has disappeared back into the totally obscurity it originally emerged from.

The dance sides is a rippling fusion of synth, rhythmic drum beats and soaring harmony vocals that call and answer throughout the whole session. Vocals bounce off each other as some slick verbal-volleyball glides on a raft of a convincing mid-tempo stepper-style arrangement - those vocals knit so completely tight, leaving you thinking - these guys are good.. but wait till the Sweet Soul flipside hits ya!

Turn it over - and slip in an abyss of silky vocals, which you could be easily forgiven for assuming you’re listening to the Delfonics, The Manhattans, Dranmatics, Originals etc. or any top-drawer male gathering.. this really is one delicately-delicious example of sweet soul.

The lead vocals seamlessly inter-change in tone & depth, a particularly sharp falsetto cuts like a knife. THe oohing and cooing is silky smooth drifting on a air of ease and self-assurance, then the so flirtatiious “get naked” rapping calmly stolls in.. total KILLER!

Two fabulous tunes “lost” “found” and then “lost” again.. with potential just dripping from whatever side you drop into..

J. R. Bailey Just Me N' You

James Ralph Bailey this album is a Soul Masterpiece and a lasting testament to your inspirational writing, producing & singing gifts.

Soul collectors before you today is one of those rare occasions whilst reviewing an album we can honestly state every track is not only a standout song but they knit together into a 41 minute legacy of genius.

Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On” album is one and the other that jumps to mind is Timothy Wilson - H&L album, as being the complete Soul experience.

Having said that, as you will hear from the sound clips J.R. was certainly heavily influenced by Marvin’s “Piece De Resistance”, but JR’s extreme talent stamps his own identity into every recording.

After listening for 40+ minutes you will find it impossible not to play it again..without question one of the greatest Soul Lp’s of the last century..

Vinyl is neat clean a couple of very light insignificant sleeve contact blemishes. Plays perfect. Both labels are MINT -. Retains original “London Dist.” inner sleeve - cover has seen a better day..spines have light wear, corner has a minor “bump” see scan, top and bottom seams have been professionally repaired and strengthen from the inside, great job and you can’t tell.

Click the soundfile and if you don’t already own this very RARE album we can tell you in goes nowhere near to reflecting, what the album in it’s entirety does for your Soul and your desire for some in-house dancing!

Scintillating truly scintillating…and so sad that Soul music “lost” this great man, before he was 50 years of age..JR your music lives on!

Eddie Bishop Call Me

I’m sure I’m swiftly becoming vinyl OCD - compulsive about condition, as the sight of unplayed vinyl nearly as old as me..totally thrills.

Another disc from a recent netting of unplayed 60s discs, this too was “virgin” before we lifted the soundfile.

Eddie transforms Tony Hatch’s British born composition with intricate pumping of the saxophone woven into a jazzy dance rhythm. Little wonder this 45 has stood the test of time as a Northern Soul instrumental dancefloor filling choice for the DJ.

It’s that instrument isn’t..the Sax you can never tire of hearing - delivered with style & punch it’s a sound you never grow weary of dancing to.

Condition…the pure delight of removing a disc from its jacket and perfect vinyl staring back at me…adrenaline rush ..every time!

Appointments I Saw You There C/w Keep Away

Spinning this tune has quite taken my breath away..as goose-pimples and raised hairs take over my being..

In short - one of THE most-wanted Northern Soul records on Planet Earth.

Exasperatingly RARE! perched at the top of top DJ’s wish-lists for literally decades and decades.

So listen why this Gene Redd creation is held is such mythical regard, dare we say, true Holy Grail status. We think so, and not only because this is absolutely the style that gets you hooked into pursuing the impossibles.

..the flipside although completely overshadowed by “I Saw You There” is also an highly-prized Northern Soul, but paling in significance as most all other NS 45’s do, when compared to this monumental masterpiece of vocal-group dance Soul.

RARE STOCK copy, so rarely seen for sale.

Eddie Davis reworks The Majestics - Linda recording to great effect, lush strings, hand-claps, finger-popping & some intricate violin plucking…not forgetting those soaring horns blaring down as if from on high.

Fabulous production and different enough to the one 4 years earlier that is considered a Northern Soul classic..

This listing s for those of you who seek out the rare stock copies in beautiful clean condition! Looks fab doesn’t it…

Also surprised at the J Beavers end price,as I got one off eBay last year for £36...

The Jaedes album was high in price (£155) The highest on Popsike is £68 which was for a mint one also. I have a sealed copy and was surprised he got £155

I wanted to have a bid on 'soul step' up to a max of £400, which I thought was stretching it.

Couldn't believe it yesterday afternoon when I looked and it was already over £650.

No, I'm just not bothered with after listening to it. Rare, yes, it seems. But not one I'm going to be on the look out for. And if it falls into my hands, I'm not going to keep it.

Always goes with the Out Of Sights "For The Rest Of My Life" in my memories...and the trickier the better as one dancefloor regular once remarked!

Is this the same lot as on Redd Coach - Keep Away? sounds like them to me..  good track, though I have to say I'd want a bit more for £4k personally...for that kind of cash, it would have to put me in orbit, and keep me there....

Its not Gene Toones is it.. that said I dont now if you could buy Gene Toones with £4k?

I agree with Pete, i would rather have Jimmy Burns..Executive four ..Joseph Moore..Larry Clinton ..Margaret Little...Chuck Holiday all of these  would cost less to buy  and better records imo.

Appointments is rare but musically very poor and not worth  £4000.

Its not a full on old school northern but if you have been in a room where the rare stuff is played the response is brilliant and over big system when the bass starts up theres no better sound imo. I would have paid 4k if I didn't already have it
